Hello everyone. I installed my MJ last February and have been using it for 10 trouble free months now. In the next week or so I am going to be replacing my hard drive and Installing Windows 7 home prem. (64bit). It has been so long since I installed MJ I don't remember exactly how to get it installed and running. I wanted to check and find out everything I need to do to make my MJ transition to the new OS be smooth. I am currently running it on XP and using it as a service so I don't have to leave the computer logged in and would like to do that with the new OS. I also can use the keypad on the phone instead of the little MJ software dialer. Where can I download the MJ software, and all the little add ons like running it as a service, and get it reconfigured once my OS is up and running ? Would just like to get prepared before jumping into things. As always, thanks in advance for any assistance.
Mike

nothing should need to be backed up and MJ version 2.06 seems to be working fine on both Windows 7 64 and 32 bit versions.starrouter wrote:Thanks laserjobs. It's run so good for so long I'm a little nervous about moving it to a new OS but hopefully it will go smoothly. Are there any gotcha's about Windows 7 ? Also, do I need to back anything up for MJ from the old system to reuse on the new OS ?

I installed Windows 7 this morning. Probably the simplest windows install I ever did. magic jack was detedted by windows and even had what looked like the right icon for it. I installed the magic jack software and the magic jack works fine with the dialer, but when I installed it as a service, I no longer have a dialtone. hmmm. Rebooted and tried it again and still no dial tone. I checked the services and the magicjack service was there and running but no dialtone. Restarting the service didn't help. I ran the service installer again to remove the service and put the magicjack dialer back in and now it's working fine but I have to used the dialer. Reinstalled the service, and no dial tone again. Removed the service and it works with the dialer. This is a clean OS install. magic jack is the only thing installed at this point, no updates or antivirus yet so there shouoldn't be anything interfering with it. Running it as a service worked gret under xp. I looked at the .NET 3.5.1 installation and there are a couple of communications options there that aren't enabled, could that be the problem ? Thanks
