Hi!!! I just had surgery so bare with me as i do not have time to read all these forums and topics to get an answer. I just got magic jack n i love it so far but i do have an issue with not being able to call some numbers or whatever. My children both have iwireless?T-mobile cell phones and i cannot call them. Can anyone tell me why that might be? Everytime i call them i get a "we're sorry ur call cannot b completed as dialed. plz hang up n call again." This is a huge problem 4 me as they have 2 call me and i am not even sure that the calls they make to me always come in.

Not sure, but are you dialing the area code first? Sorry for the question but I had to ask.
The only problem I've had with Magic Jack not completing calls is to area codes which they have blocked.
You can search the forum for a detailed explanation but MJ has decided to block certain area codes and some 800 numbers, most likely, for financial reasons.

It is also possible their cell phone provider is not yet aware of your new MJ exchange... You may have to contact their carrier and let them know your exchange is new.
BUT as Darkman mentioned MJ has started blocking a LOT or rural extensions because they charge a higher termination fee and that cuts into their profits.. If it is the latter, as of right now there is nothing you can do. Other than getting a Google Voice ( free) account as a work around. If it is the former, it can takes a few days to a few weeks to get it straightened out.

Re: iwireless/T-mobile
MJ has blocked the WHOLE state of Alaska!! It seems rural tel co's charge more for a call ( called termination fee) than non rural tel co's. So MJ decided it is better for their bottom line ( $$$$) to not allow those calls to go through..tbiz52 wrote:0 i am sorry that i am replyin again but what do u mean when u say, "rural extensions because they charge a higher termination fee and that cuts into their profits"
The area code is not what matters it is the exchange ( my area code is 484, but my exchange is 657.) So again before we assume MJ is blocking the calls, I would call whomever is the carrier ( Verizon, ATT, T-mobile, etc) customer service and let them know you have a NEW number and what your exchange is. Sometimes a brand new exchange ( you said your MJ is new, so one can assume it is a new exchange) is not yet seen by the mobile carrier.
You can also have the people whom you are calling call C.S. and let them know your calls are not going through and what your # is.
Hope that helps..

OK i guess that the 532 prefix is blocked. so is there anything that i can do bout this? It is my entire calling area. without it i might as well throw magic jack in the trash.

Re: iwireless/T-mobile
All I can suggest is to get a FREE Google voice account. You can tie it to your MJ to make calls to the area MJ blocks. A P.I.T.A. yes, but a workaround. Also you can file a complaint with the FCC as many many others have done if you are 100% positve they are blocking that area code and exchange. You can send me a PM with the number you can't call and if I can then MJ is NOT blocking it, if I can't well then not much you can do but FCC or Google Voice work around.tbiz52 wrote:OK i guess that the 532 prefix is blocked. so is there anything that i can do bout this? Ok I just called and I got the same can not be completed as dialed. So therefore it is NOTHING on your PC, nor is it a MJ setting.
Would you like me to try using my Google Voice account number?
EIDT: Ok I just spoke to your son using my Google Voice account and it worked like a charm. All you do after you set one up for yourself, is to call your GV number from your MJ phone, hit the * key on your phone, enter your PIN number ( you set this when you create your account) and then hit 2. You can then dial the number you wish to reach your MJ won't allow you too. So like I said it worked just fine calling your son.
You really should have sent me a Private Message ( PM) with your son's number now the whole forum has it

this is crazy i have done what google wants me 2 do n it now says to give it a forwarding number... so i dont no what that means. i have chosen a number as it asks.... i have a magic jack number... do i use one of these numbers or do i now chose another number. the reason i ask is that it tells me to give it a forwarding number and then it will call n i am 2 put this other number in. i dont now if i am giving it the correct number or what the problem is but i am not getting this call... it is going straight 2 my voicemail on mj through my email.

I use Google Voice a lot and it works fine with MJ. The way it works is that you give it whatever personal numbers you want, which sounds like it would be your MJ number in your case. When you have GV call a number, it will ring your MJ, you answer it, then the call gets connected to whoever you called.tbiz52 wrote:this is crazy i have done what google wants me 2 do n it now says to give it a forwarding number... so i dont no what that means. i have chosen a number as it asks.... i have a magic jack number... do i use one of these numbers or do i now chose another number. the reason i ask is that it tells me to give it a forwarding number and then it will call n i am 2 put this other number in. i dont now if i am giving it the correct number or what the problem is but i am not getting this call... it is going straight 2 my voicemail on mj through my email.
The forwarding # under "settings" has a box to check for when someone calls your GV #, you can decide which phone it will be sent to. I don't do it, but I believe you can have it forwarded to both a cell and MJ and answer whichever one you want.

As Nailgunner said: You do NOT need to have it forward to your MJ.
In your situation you are using GV to MAKE calls, not receive them. IF all of a sudden you can no longer get calls from someone, give them your GV number then yes forward your GV number to your MJ number. This way whomever calls your GV number will cause your MJ phone to ring.
Glad to have helped and yes I explained to your son about GV and how I was using it to call him via my MJ phone..
If I were you from time to time I would try calling the numbers from your MJ phone without GV as MAYBE MJ stopped blocking them.
Here is a link with the latest area codes and extensions MJ is blocking, for now anyway:
http://typewith.me/pdoGh5rvgf
Glad to see you changed his number from being viewed. I have already deleted it from my phone.

As a side-note, Google Voice also lets you send free text messages up to 160 characters with no limit on the number of messages. I'm not a big fan of texting, but I know a couple of knuckleheads that pay more attention to a text from dad than a call. Thinking of setting up a standard "answer your damn phone" text to send every 4 hours automatically.

Cause apparently i did get it 2 work as far as it calling me n putting in that 2 # code.
seems like i have spent all damn day tryin 2 figure out how 2 do this... no it doesnt seem. i did spend all day tryin 2 do this.

When you call your OWN GV# and then hit * and then enter your pin#, you hit 2 to MAKE a call.tbiz52 wrote:ok now i am even more confused than i was b4. is google voice supposed 2 help me make a call or receive a call or both or neither?

To get calls to your MJ, set up GV to call your MJ # when someone calls your GV#. Trust me it is VERY easy.

I use the web site for Google Voice. In the top left are two tabs, one for calls and one for texts. Click on the "call" one, a drop down menu appears, put in the number you want to call, it will give you the option to choose which phone to call with (home...cell..etc, in my case it's just the home phone option), hit connect, and it will call your MagicJack, you answer it, and it will then ring the number you entered in.bitstopjoe wrote:When you call your OWN GV# and then hit * and then enter your pin#, you hit 2 to MAKE a call.tbiz52 wrote:ok now i am even more confused than i was b4. is google voice supposed 2 help me make a call or receive a call or both or neither?

Like Joe said, it's pretty straightforward too, so between the 2 methods, one should work for you.

Orrrrrrrrrrrrrr you can bypass that altogether and do what I suggested, just call your GV# from your MJ phone, of course if MJ blocked that number too then you have to go to the web page or just try a new GV# not in your area code and exchange.nailgunner wrote:I use the web site for Google Voice. If I was not ready to go to bed, sick as a dog with a 102 and rising fever, I would ask you to call me and I would walk you through it.
So I might not be on here for a few days, since I live alone it might be longer till I feel better..
If by then you are still having trouble I will PM you my MJ# and help you best I can..

Yea, mine was intended to just be another option. The odd thing is that I don't remember setting up a pin# when I registered with GV. Tempted to play with it, but I can see confusing myself.bitstopjoe wrote:

Well think about this. Say you call me and now I have your GV#, if there were no pin # I can then call YOUR GV# from my phone and then press 2 and call, say N.A.M.B.L.A. ( ugh, damn perverts) So when you access GV by phone I sure hope you have a pin #, via web, all you need is your password.nailgunner wrote:Yea, mine was intended to just be another option. Re: iwireless/T-mobile
Well the good news is that if I don't know the pin I guess no one else does. I just played around with it, and my "usual" pins (yea, I use only 2 for just about everything..old age you know) don't work. I don't remember even being asked to assign one in my set-up process (but again memory is a side issue). Will have to see about getting it changed.bitstopjoe wrote: Well think about this. But after playing with it I still prefer the web-site method, but to each his own. Since I'm already on the computer, I just click on "placed calls" and "call" and bam it's done, no pin, no entering in a number (if I called it previously).

Well i am into google voice n it is working 4 the ppl that i give that phone # 2. they r goin straight to voicemail on gv. they r also goin 2 voicemail automatically on mj. no phone calls r comin in. i can make some phone calls goin out but not the 532 xchange. the area code is not the prob... it is just that xchange.
i cant figure out what 2 do even tho u all have been so kind as 2 spend all this time helpin me. this is so frustratin as i have several ppl i really need 2 call n we r in the middle of a snow storm. i can go out in it as the ppl i need 2 talk 2 r just in town n i am good in snow but i would rather just call.
so 2moro i am gonna try again. i just havnt had the time 2 put into this. i could just kill mj. shouldnt they do a better job of helping ppl out?

but the problem that i have now is that i apparently have the wrong pin. is there a way that i can find out the rite pin or that i can change my pin. how many characters r in this pin? is it the 8 digit one that i had 2 do? i just dont remember the pin.
i am an idiot. i should have wrote it down but it is not the usual pin that i use all the time cause gv put resrictions on my pin n it screwed me up.

Your "pin" or password to log into your online GV acount is different than the pin you set up on your GV number.
If all else fails, try setting up another GV account with a new GV#.
You can also do this to change your PIN.. This is from their Help section on Google. The last paragraph is how to change your PIN:
Your PIN gives you access to Google Voice settings and voicemail from multiple phones.
If you're using Google Voice with a Google number: your PIN allows you to access your voicemail by dialing your Google number from any phone, pressing * and entering your PIN. If you call your number from a phone from which you connect directly to voicemail, you may have to enter your PIN to access your messages, depending on the settings you've set up on the Phones tab of your Google Voice Settings.
If you're using Google Voice with a non-Google number: your PIN gives you access to Google Voice settings and voicemail from the phones you've registered in the Phones tab of your Google Voice Settings. If you call your Google voicemail access number from a registered number, you may have to enter your PIN to access your messages, depending on the settings you've set up on the Phones tab. You can access your Google voicemail from any phone by calling the mobile phone and going to voicemail. During the voicemail greeting, press * and enter your PIN.
To change your PIN, sign in to Google Voice and click the Settings link at the top-right of the page and select the Voicemail tab. In the Voicemail PIN section, enter your new PIN and re-enter the new PIN to confirm it. Then, click Save Changes.
If all else fails, try setting up another GV account with a new GV#.

To change your PIN, sign in to Google Voice and click the Settings link at the top-right of the page and select the Voicemail tab. In the Voicemail PIN section, enter your new PIN and re-enter the new PIN to confirm it. Then, click Save Changes.

If you cant figure out on how to change your PIN, sure just start over. As far as your old GV account, I do not see a way to JUST delete your GV account, ( http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/v ... 4b7c&hl=en) all they show is to totally delete your Google account . I am not sure if it is the same thing but you can always try that or just leave it. Since no one else has your PIN ( not even you ) I would not worry about it "floating" around out in cyber space. Here is what I found to delete your Google account:tbiz52 wrote:should i just start over on the gv n make another account? is there a way that i can close this account so i dont have one just floating round doin nothing?

Remember, there is another option in using your GV account. Just go to their website and log-in. Hit the call tab on the top left, enter in the number you want to call and hit connect.tbiz52 wrote:should i just start over on the gv n make another account? is there a way that i can close this account so i dont have one just floating round doin nothing?

Dang, I've never quoted myself before. I feel like a Senator or President now.nailgunner wrote:. The odd thing is that I don't remember setting up a pin# when I registered with GV. Tempted to play with it, but I can see confusing myself.
I did eventually play with it and tried a 3rd pin that I use sometimes and that was the ticket. So I did set one up at some point, but I do not remember a second of that process. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

I assumed that's where the bruising was coming from, she was taking her anger at him out on me.bitstopjoe wrote: Hey don't forget she is avalible these days after her husband cheated on her and she is divorcing him. Dope doesn't come close to describing it. I guess that's what a ton of money does to you though, a feeling of doing-whatever-you-want. Of course, she could have been a lousy....nah...impossible.
