Getting about a 5 second delay with MJ

Ok, first of all, I have been chatting with MJ tech support for DAYS trying to get this fixed. No such luck. So I'm trying here to see if I can get any friggin help. We have had mj for a little over a year now. The subscrition recently expired, so we tried magic touch to see if it would be any better. It isnt. That is when the delay started. When we renewed mj we were still getting the delay. Before this we have never had a problem with mj. Can anyone suggest anything that will help us get this fixed?

Is the delay in "While talking" or is it your voice as an Echo?
Or something different?

Try these if you haven't already.

1.Check your headset settings.
In the Softphone click: Menu, Volume/Headset Controls. If your using a Telephone select it and see where your "sliders" are. Most say slide them 1/3 up. You might have to adjust them, give or take. I did it when I was talking on the phone.

2. Don't use the ext. USB cable, Plug the MJ device on the back USB ports. depends on your computer/laptop. Desktop you don't want to use the front USB ports. Many say here, get a powered ext. USB hub.

3. Make sure in all your sounds in CTRL Panel are all working, check for updated sound drivers.
4. In device MGR. under USB ROOT HUB (ALL OF THEM) make sure these are unchecked to "Save Power"

I run my MJ on a Thin Client, this is low power usage, and doesn't effect my main computer. If you need to know more aboout thin clients do a search, you can also find them on eBay "Thin Client MagicJack ready"

1. What internet speed do you have?
2. Do you have a router?
3. Is computer hook up right to the cable/DSL broadband modem?
4. What speed is you computer?

Once I know what you have, I could try and see if I can help.

1: I have about 1mb download speed and about .7mb upload speed

Ok,
I beleve your main problem is your internet speed.
A minimum bandwidth UPLOAD speed of 128 kb/s is required.
Found at magicjack.com, you can do a search on "speed"

Why does the apartment complex have a router?

Then why is there a router in play? The only way you need a router is if you have more than one computer on the cable/DSL modem. Does the appt. provide this for you, and why?

Fill me in on how you get internet access.

I have Charter cable internet. 16meg, the cable comes into our computer room and is hooked up to the cable modem then I hook up my linksys router (ethernet cables) to my wifes computer,mine then to my thin client.

My ISP only gives me one IP address (unless I want to pay for more, which I don't) so with the router it takes the one IP and gives all my 3 computers access to my ISP with one IP address.

You computer is fast enough.

It still comes back to your upload speed, the more you have the better off you'll be with magicjack.
