Our number transfer is $8.00 and only available to paid accounts as free accounts get deleted with no activity after 30 days. The transfer can take up to three weeks depending on your current provider.

If you plan to use a ata it is locked while on the service to provide Superior service as we notice that just proving the sip credentials on the paid service for ATA does not work well. We will provide you with the password to your device but any changes are at your expense.
I use 2 lines on my ATA (PAP2T-NA) at the present time. If I were to go with your service, would I still have control of one of my lines on my ATA? I feel as I own this device, I should not be locked out of it to adjust or tweak settings or dial plans .

Providers such as callcentic, voip.ms or VOIPo don't lock the customer provided ATA's.

If you noticed i use the same ATA as u and i own mine also, LQQK below what does it say!, I had mine locked and the service was fantastic. Once i unlocked it it did'nt like it. So mine is locked BUT i have all the info user PWD's etc to get into it and do whatever i feel like. so you can call it unlocked as you can get in it and do whatever. Once u leave the service they will remove the PWD u have to get into your ATA so it's fully unlocked again

I know that the PAP2T-NA is unlocked. But my question was that VoipMyWay may 'provision" my device with their settings and provide a 'password" to my own device. PhonePower does this to BYOD customers and locking their previously unlocked ATA. I just don't want to lose the functionality of my ATA on Line 2.

What im saying is we tested with him for hours, The ATA works unlocked but not well. So they lock the box BUT give you the logon info for the user and admin and you can do whatever u want like the box was unlocked anyway. Upon leaving the service they will remove the passwords putting your device back to the way it was, Line 1 and 2 are on

What are you talking about he service is free as you can download a free softphone or use a exiting ata , but you want hardware that is not part of the service offering as we provide open SIP then that costs.

Side note due to legal reasons with the ads playing and causing a delay that can prevent crucial help we are disabling E911 on free service.

Yes I see your point. That is due to I need a way to verify users. First users complained about sending a TOS signed. Then I setup the .01 cents. As paypal was not allowing 0 dollar orders to go through and be processed. This allows me to verify your store order with your a address that has some weight.

I was ready to pull the trigger on the Santa special but then I realized I haven't seen anywhere where you provide international service. Did I miss it?

We do offer the service it is extra and not included in the normal fee. International usage requires a 100 dollar deposit as rates flux. I can provide a rate sheet. The reason we don't have it on the site is it is a big risk to us do to cost.

Thanks for quick reply. Think I'll have to pass for now. That's a bit steep for me to try out the service. $100 would probably last more that a year at the rate we call the overseas family.

Hi Mike, Well i configured the FXS to max and called Italy for 1 hr and 30 mins and my cousin had to hold the phone away from her ear as it was so loud. I must admit it travels well across the pond and no breakups or clipping. Like they say a little dab will do ya

ciao, Thanks

Gashliquor,

Mind sharing what your configuration is/was for your Italy call. Working with Mike to get subscribed and get some minutes and I'll be using PAP2T that I used for MJ.

Thanks

He had me auto provision the device and then I just provided him the admin password since it was his device. that will get you on the service. then I flick the international flag and that is then enabled.

I assume that your provisioning sets the tweaks in the ATA to optimum for your servers and I don't have to go in a stroke the settings like with MJ.

I use a PAP2T here also, Only thing i did was Tweak the FXS to my liking for ear blowing loud audio in my case the FXS Input Gain 6 and the FXS output gain 0 and its more audio then most can handle hearing without over modulation but staying crystal clear that they have to move the phone away from there ear some people

The test i did b4 using those settings were:

I did some testing to make sure of the audio settings. I sent a 1kHz tone into a phone and out through the PAP2T. I called another number that I hooked an audio dB meter up to. At the standard level of -3 on the FXS Input I recorded a sound pressure level of 56dB. When I changed the setting to 6, I recorded 62dB. So this does confirm that the FXS Input Gain is what controls the volume to the party on the other end of the line because i was'nt 100% sure, The output audio to the listening end was clear but very loud that a hearing aid person would not need one

Hey, guys!

Am I the only one experiencing calls forwarded from MJ to this service not getting through?

genxweb, will your service accept international calls other than Canada? I tried calling my number from my mobile but it wont go through... Calling from Asia here :)

You can only call us and canda with the service. International dialing needs to bs bought in increments of$ 25 dollars$ 5.00 of that is a service fee.

we don't block call forwarding but I will submit a ticket to have this investigated. My thought is mi is blocking the area code since you are configuring this on the mm side but I will double check.

Genxweb,

Thanks for the quick reply... I already submitted a ticket...

I was actually trying to call from my local mobile number to my paid voipmyway number. For some reason I can now go through.

There's some developments with the call forwarding:

If I forward my number from MJ, it will not go through. However if I use GV to forward to my number and then have MJ forward my GV number it gets through....

I will use the GV forward solution for the meantime :)

Ok i sent you a pm requesting more info. From the sound of it sounds mm is blocking the area code of the voipo number. As far as calling what error do you get does it keep ringing or what happens also are you dialing the proper sequence ie 011 country code and then number.

It's a small point, but other than the one and only area code for Alaska, I don't think MJ is blocking area codes. They are blocking whole exchanges within an area code.

Just read the TOS. A few minor bugs... "reserve the right to refuse service" clause appears twice. Under business usage it says "VoIP My Way does not provide business services at this time". Also in the business section it used "residential" where it meant "business" once.

None of that matters to me, just proofreading. Can't help it.

I would like to know if there is any way to tell whether our desired prefix is available? I couldn't find a way to see that.

Also, although I have an MJ on a thin client, I have never used the ATA (or other acronym) hardware and have no idea how to use Asterisk or SIP. Does just buying their ATA and service cover everything for normal residential use? Do I need to learn all there is to know about VoIP before I can use it effectively?

Thanks 8)

Also, it talks about "renting" the ATA and returning it when cancelling service. I can see where you can buy the ATA, but cannot see how to "rent" it. Any additional info on this, please?
Thanks again.

I will double check the TOS.

As far as renting it is the same price. We have noticed several people have just kept it so we charge you the full price up front, no matter how long you have the service. So at the end if you leave and don't return it then there is no issue.

The ata / pap is a device like modem that allows you to do from ip to analog phone. You dont need it and can use a softphone.

It basically comes pre configured. You plug and play.

I just want to say that your service dwarfs MJ voice quality - It's a hundred times better! I just spent almost an hour talking to my sister on the phone. She and I never had a single issue. Voice clarity was perfect - didn't falter at all even with some files being downloaded on the server....

One suggestion though, in the VoIP control panel, there is no way to save international numbers for the caller ID personalization. In MJ I can do it without issues... Any option to just click on the log file number to save to the contacts?

By the way, what does "Update MWI" do in the voicemail Tab? Is there a way to send the voicemail as attachment to the email or it's pure email notification at the moment?

I wish there's a complete manual/help reference for the VoIP control Panel features.

Also, is it an issue with the ATA settings when the phone still keeps on ringing (in-coming call) even when the caller already hanged-up? Am using a Linksys SPA-3102 here.

ANS: I will add a feature request as well as look into this.

By the way, what does "Update MWI" do in the voicemail Tab? Is there a way to send the voicemail as attachment to the email or it's pure email notification at the moment?

ANS: That will update the voicemail indicator on your device / phone

I wish there's a complete manual/help reference for the VoIP control Panel features.

ANS: That is a good question and one I am working on. We have people developing the manuals.

Also, is it an issue with the ATA settings when the phone still keeps on ringing (in-coming call) even when the caller already hanged-up? Am using a Linksys SPA-3102 here.[/quote]

ANS: I am not 100% as that device is not one that we officially support, it could be a simple detection of termination of call that needs to be adjusted. I will think about this a bit and PM you if i find something.

Here's a link to an article I found on configuring your Linksys VoIP ATA. Found it very interesting. http://www.toao.net/25-linksys-ata-conifguration. Don't know if it helps but it might. The neat thing about Mike's VoIP My Way service is that you can try out these settings yourself. If you don't like them, go back to the provisioned settings.

Free service is now sold out. We will be clearing free accounts that have not used the service at all over the last 30 days to free up space on the free servers.

Those that have free accounts and have not used them that want to keep them will be assessed a fee of $25.00 to keep them to cover the maintenance cost, which would of been covered by the ad revenue that was not generated since no calls were placed.

Since the free accounts are currently sold out we are offering a limited supply of Residential lite accounts.

These accounts include your own number and 300 minutes of talk time a month. These accounts do not have E911, though you can add it to the account for a fee of 15.00 a year.

These accounts are ideal for those that dont use the service often, want to test the service or want a back up service.

Accounts are 5.50 a month.

Go to the store to purchase these accounts and if you want to add E911 add that to your cart as well.

*These accounts are for new users or free accounts looking to upgrade.

Dudes, maybe the attraction of this VoIP service just isn't getting through my thick skull, but I cannot see how this service is better or even as GOOD as either MJ or NT.

They charge 10 bucks a month.....a MONTH....MJ charges $1.67 a month and NT charges $2.50 a month if using the Duo and $0.00 a month, NADA if lucky enough to be one of the first year buyers of the TK6000. I don't get it. Am I one of the only two people in the entire US that has had NO problems with either MJ or NT (Hey Nailgunner, are we really the only two that's had no problems??).

SO! Will someone please explain in a manner that will cause this old man's feeble synaptic connections to, well, CONNECT? :?

Don't get me wrong......I am ALL FOR competition and free market. Competition is what keeps honest people honest. 8)

I gotta be missing sumthin.....especially when the genuis that is VaHam is sold on this thing.

At the risk of being labeled obscene, WTF??? :? :? :?

I was content with magicJack; however, when they started blocking most of the exchanges we call, I had to shop around. I considered the voipmyway service, but you are right, at $10 a month for 1,000 minutes, it was too much for me.

I am now back on nettalk (had a trial with tk6000 back in Jul 2009 and it didn't go well) ... with the DUO, so far so good.

need static IP?

I have Internet through my cable service. My IP Address is dynamic, changes quite often.

Is this going to interfere with VoIPMyWay routing to my ATA?

I can currently call out, but when dialing in there is nothing.

$10.00 a month for 1000 mins?. I think it's 1500 not 1000 and i maybe wrong but don't think so. Could be as there were many specials.

From the TOS: "...The VoIP My Way ResidentialUnlimited plan is designed for customers with average usage of under 1,000 minutes per month. Accounts exceeding 1,000 minutes per month on a regular basis may be subject to review and reclassification."

Well, No argue with what ur saying. All i know is im 1500 mins a month and thats because im like subscriber #1 or something when it first started. When i joined it was 1500 mins per month and still 1500, What anyone else gets i have no idea as the TOS is worthless in my case.
