911 address has gone yellow

Post by Nobody beats the Whiz! »

My 911 address had been green for about the last 6 to 8 months. A day or so ago, it changed to yellow. I have not touched the address or portal at all.

Anyone else experience this?

Mine is still green. It sounds like yours is having a verification problem.

I went to chat with this issue. Please see below.

Please wait for a site operator to respond.

You are now chatting with 'Lloyd'

Your Issue ID for this chat is LTK43601020187X

Lloyd: Hello Eric. My name is Lloyd. To better assist you, let me put you on hold while I read your previous chat/s. Thank you.

eric: ok.

Lloyd: Thank you for patiently waiting.

Lloyd: Please do not be worried Eric. With the yellow it means that it is with the 911 department and being notified. That will turn to green later on once they are all done verifying on your address. You will be alarmed only when that turns to black.

Lloyd: That will turn itself to green later on.

Lloyd: It is my pleasure to assist you.

Lloyd: Thank you for your cooperation and patience. I truly appreciate it.

Lloyd: Is there anything else I may help you with today?

eric: But, the button has been green for over a year now and with the upgrade it turned yellow.

Lloyd: Yes, since with the upgrade all information have been updated.

Lloyd: And that will turn to green when the 911 department is done updating.

eric: Ok so it should get to green in a day or two?

Lloyd: Yes, that is right.

eric: Thanks

Lloyd: Thank you for your cooperation and patience. I truly appreciate it.

Lloyd: Is there anything else I may help you with today?

eric: no, I am good for now.

Lloyd: It is my pleasure to assist you.

Lloyd: Thank you for stopping by to chat, I hope I did a good job at addressing your concerns. Please take a second to answer a one question survey about the service I provided. Please click the "close" button on the top right of this screen and the survey will appear. Thanks again!

I am having the same problem as of today. I tried changing the location, restarting the computer and nothing happened. It is a issue with Magic Jack that needs to be fixed asap. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Thanks for the replies.

It seems to confirm they are did something. Perhaps they changed 911 contractors, and addresses need to be re-verified?

We'll see how long it takes to green-up.

While I don't mean to belittle your issue, I don't consider the 911 location to be an invaluable/completely necessary feature of mJ anyway. I mean, if you're relying on mJ for all your emergency communications needs, um, you're in for a big surprise...

Didn't even notice it until I read this thread, but mine has turned yellow too. Its not a verification issue since its been green since just about the day I registered my MJ over 2 years ago. Something's amiss in MJ-land (again).

I had to refill out the 911 info. Mine turned green about 1 day later.

It threw on the following 4 digit area code when i completed it after the upgrade.

I never implied that I did rely upon MJ. In fact, my particular address has its own emergency response center and phone number. Response would actually be slower if I dialed 911 either from MJ, POTS, or cell. The 911 call center would have to manually relay the information over.

It was merely an observation of more things broken from the "upgrade."

911 system needs to varify the address

Post by SKE_webmaster »

Same thing on mine with the new update.

The 911 automation system in your area need to varify the address.

Double click the 911 button, you should get a message that the 911 system is varifying the address.

If that did not work,

Click the arrow for the address and select the address marked << and see if that works.

But be patient, it takes some time for the 911 system to varify your address.

Hope this helped.

MJ Sign out option

Post by SKE_webmaster »

Yes, I tried that too. It can be a little glitchy. But it let me sign out and the sign back in.

They suggested you wait till the MJ system updates were finished. Its been 12 days for me, so I gave it a try 2 days ago.

I signed out. Then tried to sign back in, it would not accept the information. So I disconnected my dogle, reinstalled the dogle and tried to sign in again, no problem.

Just be sure MJ is not running before you plug it back in.

Just a note for you information:

You may also see a new process running. WISPTIS.exe, this is a process used by windows ink, MJ as it turned on in their latest update. It can cause some performance problems when your system is Windows XP and you also use Microsoft Office 2003. Dont know about other operating systems or Office product problems due to this.

You can end the process in the task window after MJ loads, but it keeps installing. Also it does not terminate when MJ is closed. If you end the process the notice section on the softphone may go blank.

Can not get satisfaction on the subject with MJ.

I am still having the issue. I signed out uninstalled, and reinstalled and it has that issue. I chatted with Janna and I told her to reset the account. She said that the problem was do to the latest upgrade. She said that she would reset the account and the issue should be fixed in a few hours. Yeah right... Oh well...

I had talked about that file a week ago. PLUS if you uninstall Windows Journal ( which the new MJ update installed) that file will no longer start.

Joe, i just noticed the wisptis.exe starting when mj starts. i can't find a service relating to it, or a windows journal to uninstall. renaming it doesn't help because mj reinstalls it.

any other ideas about stopping it?

If all you want to do is stop it you have to wait till MJ loads and yes do it every time. I use Process Explorer for all the stopping and starting http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals Or a CTL/SHIFT/ESC process section and stop it there.

As fas as uninstalling Windows Journal, it might be listed as MICROSOFT Windows Journal in uninstall. So you have to look closely, trust me it is there as I uninstalled it months ago and have no problems.

sorry, i am not seeing anything in add/remove programs about journal, under windows, or microsoft, or elsewhere.

i have read about removing "advanced text services" (which has "ink correction" under it. as a way to stop wisptis.exe from running. i already have "advanced settings" in languages, services, turned off. what might i lose by removing the "advanced text services"? or if "advanced text services " is already turned off would removing it make any difference. this is a desktop, not a tablet pc.

I am using XP SP 3 so if you have a newer OS it might be hidden or something comletly different.
Maybe try doing a search in Google for removing/uninstalling that filename with whatever OS you are using..

Sorry I have never head of "advanced Text Services" Maybe someone else here has...

yeah, this is xp sp3 also.

i did a search on removing wisptix.exe and that is where i heard about the advanced text services removal.

maybe i'll try that and see what happens. though i'd like a better handle on what else i might be screwing up by removing it.

thanks for trying.

I just saw the text services thing and it looks ok to try. I also found this, if you are comfortable playing in the registry:
**************************************************
You cannot get rid of wisptis.exe by renaming or deleting it: Windows File Protection would cause it to reinstall the next time you run Adobe Acrobat.

There is even a rumor about a bug in wisptis.exe itself whereby it keeps part of the current user registry hive locked, preventing updates and eventually resulting in a corruption of the registry hive (which as reported leads to a "Userenv event 1517" on logging off or shutting down).

Others reported GDI leaks and CPU hogging. I haven't noticed the latter but can confirm that at one point, the number of open GDI handles by wisptis.exe was above 1000, which is unacceptable.

So by and large it seems wisptis.exe can make a thorough nuisance of itself.

To uninstall wisptis and Microsoft's Tablet PC Components on your PC, you must delete the following registry entries:

Now you can also safely delete \Windows\System32\Wisptis.exe. Make sure the process is not running; otherwise kill it before deletion.
