We all know MJ has been denying service since August to many numbers and Alaska for example in total. This is not due to the local carriers refusing to connect the calls. It is due to MJ refusing to pay the customary fees that other carriers pay. Consequently, the MJ servers are not connecting the calls.
Rumor is there is a class action law suit being prepared against MJ for big bucks (like 25 million) to compensate customers who have been mislead and who have received the infamous letter telling them they can return the unit but they "may" be denied future service if they do.
Stay tuned:
Dear magicJack Customer:
We are working on interconnecting with the telecommunications carrier for the telephone numbers you have been unable to reach. The current rates charged by carriers are cost prohibitive. There is a legal requirement for all companies to interconnect if one carrier requests to do so from the other carrier. We hope we will be successful in doing so.
In the meantime we would be happy to offer you a refund of your unused magicjack and related services per pro rata method, i.e., if used six months, the refund would be approximately $20.00.
Please return your magicJack to the following address and enclose a refund request that includes your name, magicJack phone number and full mailing address.
magicJack, LP
Attention: Consumer Issues Department
P. O. Box 16176
West Palm Beach, FL 33416
We will credit the form of payment you used to purchase your magicJack or mail you a check.
Should you choose to return your magicJack for a refund, future registrations may be prevented.

Ya know Sparky, you really only need to post the same thing once. I count this as #3, but I'm not through the whole forum yet.
So as a public service, I will post my response again to the first one of your's I saw:
And after the lawyers deduct their costs and then take their cut, 5 years from now you might each get $15, which is less than MJ is offering now.
And seriously? Stay tuned? You gonna give us blow by blow details for the next five years? Hopefully not in all 3 posting spots.
Well I can see you're not the brightest bulb in the pack. So as a public service why don't you make a one way trip to someplace ... LOL
You missed the entire point of the post but why doesn't that surprise me.
The real point is that the MJ folks are deliberately shafting folks, lying about it and they are going to get their butts kicked for it. Who cares if we get anything out of it, but it will cost MJ a pile of $$$ with a good chance of killing the service.
Let's just hope someone doesn't pull your cord out of the wall else you'll be left in the dark.
If you knew anything at all about class action suits you'd understand how very lucrative it is to the attorneys.
Have a good one!

You need to learn how to read. I know exactly how lucrative it is for attorneys. That's why after they deduct their share and their costs, you will get less than MagicJack is offering, after about FIVE years.
can't believe that some people are willing to pay thousands of dollars for having an Atty. for suing a VOIP service for 1 year calls within US and Canada for $19.95/year..

They aren't. The idea is that the attorney starts it, gets 1/3 of the award, plus his fee, and he ends up being the only happy one.
And if anyone has filed a suit, they are doing a great job of keeping it quiet.
