Cutting me off &...

Post by runwiththefox »

Magicjack will randomly just cut off in mid-conversation. It's not constant enough to want to make me stop using it, but it's irritating. There a fix for this issue?

Also, it'll sometimes make voices sound choppy. Like a skipping CD. (though I suspect that may be a CPU or memory thing(?) cause I notice it'll do that when I surf the 'net while speaking.

Thanks for any help.

What's your ISP speeds? UP/Down.
A minimum bandwidth UPLOAD speed of 128 kb/s is required.

What's your prossessor speed and your RAM?
MJ likes to have 1gig+ or 512+ram.

I run a thin client, this way I can keep MJ off my computer.
Here's more info. on thin client's.

Search this forum - there are LOTS and LOTS of posts regarding your problem. My immediate suggestion - shut down other things running on your PC and/or increase the priority to at least "above normal" for the magicJack process. I am running it on a 1.1GHz celeron w/512M ram and the process running 'above normal' and it works fine.

Thanks, John.
I did that online speed test link you gave & I saw 2 different results. One was 6320-something & the 2nd read 9370 kbps.
I have 2gigs. It *looked* good, I guess.

I'll wait & try other solutions before I spend $ on a thin client.

hsweiss-

I never knew there was a priority option. I'll look for it on the MJ interface.
Thanks.
