Please help. My 94 year-old-mother uses MagicJack – it continues to make and receive calls. However, due to age and infirmity, she cannot type in phone numbers; she must use the “Contacts List” to dial. She has lost this list. We cannot download it and both the “add contact” commands (under the menu and right-click function) are NON-RESPONSIVE (grayed-out)!
I have two questions:
1) Is there any way to re-enter the numbers in the “contacts list”?
2) Can MJ be un-installed and re-installed to correct this problem?
I have searched everywhere, and can find no solutions. Thank you.
“Contacts List” gone! Cannot D-L or Re-enter numbers!

Chances are it will ( hopefully) come back on it's own. MJ keeps our contact list on their server, so I would try removing your MJ and then putting it back in. Maybe the next time MJ reboots it will d/l the contact list from the MJ server. IF NOT then you need to get in touch with online chat and see if they can help you.
I have seen this clear up on it's own so I would not panic, just yet.
I "assume" your mom rebooted her PC and she is, in fact, connected to the internet?

Thanks for your help, Joe. The PC is connected to the net - I view it remotely (from a distant city) to help my mother. The Contacts List has be missing for many days. the PC has been rebooted many times.
What bothers me is the fact that I (we) cannot enter any "new" contacts!
I will see if she is able to disconnect the "dongle" and reconnect it (she is near-blind and has motor skills difficulties, however).
If I delete MJ from her PC can it be reinstalled without difficulty or additional cost?

Yes, all you need to do is have her plug the device back in and it does all the work from there. There is no additional cost.Wolffson wrote: If I delete MJ from her PC can it be reinstalled without difficulty or additional cost?
If you are accessing her computer remotely, open up the menu on the MJ dialing pad, and under "advanced users" click on "my magicjack". In there is a "contact list" tab. All her calls and contacts should be there. If they are, my opinion is that they will eventually come back to her dialing pad, if not immediately after she reinstalls the device.

On the MJ web page there is a removal tool, you can run that and then plug the MJ back in and let the software re-install and hopefully it will then D/L her contact list.Wolffson wrote:Thanks for your help, Joe. Had she changed or updated anything prior to this happening? A firewall setting or a AV update maybe has caused MJ to be blocked when it d/ls the contact list.
Try what Nailgunner said and see if her contacts can still be seen in her my.magicjack.com account.

If all of the good suggestions above don't remedy the problem, here's another thought. Buy a telephone with a memory for storing numbers. That way she won't be at the mercy of MJ. This is exactly what I do at home since I do not have a monitor, keyboard, or mouse connected to the thin client I use for MJ.
