MagicJack Plus Order Allegedly Has Been Shipped

Post by PoorMan »

I placed my order for my magicJack plus on 6-9-11. I just received an e-mail that was sent yesterday saying that it was shipped yesterday 8-3-11. However even though it’s a day later the US postal system still hasn’t acknowledged receiving the package, though they have received electronic notification to expect the package.

An e-mail was sent to me on August 3 (personal information has been redacted)

magicJack Order#: XXXXXXXXXX has Shipped - tracking no: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

August 3

Dear XXXXXXX XXXXX,

Your magicJack is on its way to you via US Postal Service. Your tracking number is: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.

For your convenience you can track your package via the USPS's website at this link: USPS Order Tracking

Yours truly,

magicJack
So it sounds like they finally started to get some into stock, and are finally starting to ship some out. So hopefully subsequent customers, won't experience so horrible delays, excuses, and apparent lies that I have.

Hopefully other customers won't have to wait about two months before their order is shipped.

Hopefully I received mine in working condition. Hopefully it works as well as advertised. I was starting to wonder if I was going to get mine before Obama completely collapsed economy. :(

I have waited months for the magic Jack plus to be available. I've waited nearly 2 months for them to ship my magic Jack plus.

Here is one of my previous posts of just some of my experiences.

PoorMan wrote:Magic Jack personnel still seem to be trying to boondoggle me about why my magic Jack plus hasn't been shipped and when it is going to get shipped. Despite ordering my magic Jack plus over a month and a half ago, it apparently still hasn't been shipped. The top 10% "supervisor" that I talked to today seem to contradict himself, and seemed to make a Freudian slip, that seem to indicate that the supervisor was trying to flimflam me. In the early part of the chat he seemed to indicate that the order was in the shipping department/warehouse; however in the last line of the chat he seemed to indicate that the order was in the verification state, which would seem to indicate that the order hasn't reached the shipping stage yet. So I get the impression that I am still being lied to by magic Jack personnel.

The following is chat log today with magic Jack. My name and other personal information has been censored/changed. My typos and bad grammar are included:

Please wait for a site operator to respond.

You are now chatting with 'Vincent'

Your Issue ID for this chat is LTK55402988****

Vincent: Hello, how may I help you?

John Doe: LTK55402956**** I want to talk to the supervisor.

Vincent: Please give me a few moments to read your previous converstaion and be able to give you further assistance about it.

John Doe: 153pm

Vincent: Ok

Vincent: I am transferring you to one of our top 10% agents as rated by our customers. Please hold while I transfer you.

Please wait while I transfer the chat to the best suited site operator.

You are now chatting with 'Ermin'

Your Issue ID for this chat is LTK55402988****

Ermin: Hi this is Ermin from higher level of support i'll be assisting you today, please hold on while i check your previous chats....

John Doe: I asked to be transferred to a supervisor.

Ermin: I am\

John Doe: I ordered a magic Jack plus on 6-9-11. IIRC the recording said that most customers receive the product within 14 business days. After about 14 business days I still hadn?t received the magic Jack plus, I received an e-mail confirmation stating that my magic Jack bus should be shipped within two weeks. IIRC after I received my e-mail confirmation about 14 days after placing my order, there was a one dollar pending charge just placed on my credit card. Two weeks after I received the e-mail, the order information at magic Jack?s website indicates that my magic Jack plus still hasn?t been shipped. So apparently over a month and a half later my magic Jack plus still hasn?t been shipped. I?m wondering what is wrong?

John Doe: Yesterday I was told in magic Jack's chat by Randy that the product has not shipped yet because the transaction was declined. My credit card is in good standing, so I am skeptical of this claim. After I received my e-mail confirmation there was a one dollar pending charge from magic Jack on my credit card. Why was I sent an e-mail confirmation and why was one dollar pending on my credit card if the transaction wasn't approved or tentatively approved? It gives me the suspicion that the magic Jack company is doing some crooked shenanigans. By trying to buy time by crookedly juggling and stalling orders? Or perhaps payment was denied because the magic Jack company has so many credit card claims against it?

Ermin: K

John Doe: I feel that if the transaction was denied, that I should have been notified immediately by e-mail and/or phone; so that the problems could be resolved in a professional and timely manner. Unfortunately it seems that the magic Jack company has chosen to neglect the customer. I think that the magic Jack company should make customer service and professionalism more of a priority to try to give their company a good reputation, instead of the bad one that they have.

John Doe: The magic Jack personnel Randy crookedly disconnected the chat before resolving the issue claiming "Since we haven't heard from you, we must release this chat" the truth is that Randy posted that and dumped the chat so quick is that he didn't give me an honest chance to respond. I've conversed to other alleged magic Jack customers, and they claim that they also have had their chats disconnected in the same dishonest manner. The magic Jack chat used to have a timestamp on it, I would recommend bringing back the timestamp as a way to prevent your employees from abusing/neglecting customers. Unfortunately it seems that customer service is a very low priority the magic Jack company.

John Doe: Randy told me the order was placedon the 6-29-11. However I placed the order on 6-9-11. Randy told me to re place the order and the credit card information. I hope this doesn't put me at the back of the line and result in being billed twice. I placed my order over a month and a half ago, and my magic Jack Plus still hasn't been shipped.

John Doe: I resubmitted my billing information yesterday. Today my magic Jack is still not indicating shipped.

Ermin: Thank you for waiting. I'll be with you in just a moment.

Ermin: ok

John Doe: 2:05 PM and waiting

Ermin: K

Ermin: here is the thing, i will send a report for this so they will be able to take care of this problem,

John Doe: I've already been waiting for over a month and a half. It would be nice if this problem could be resolved now, instead of just submitting a report.

Ermin: im afraid we do not have option to resolve this right now, because the problem is on shipping department end, i have to inform them on what happen with the order so they will be able to go further option on the matter

John Doe: This is my third time since I've placed the order that I have contacted magic Jack trying to resolve these issues

John Doe: About a month ago when I went to look up the status of my order, I couldn't even bring my order up.

John Doe: Yesterday I was told it was the shipping department. Yesterday I was told that there was a problem authorizing the payment. Now today I'm being told it is a shipping problem.

John Doe: correction yesterday I wasn't told it was the shipping department

Ermin: [S]hipment Pending on shipping dept. status as i checked.

John Doe: That's what I was told yesterday.

John Doe: about a month and a half ago I was told that most customers get their order within two weeks

John Doe: Then about 20 days after that, I was told that it would be shipped in two weeks. Now it's about a month later and apparently it still hasn't even been shipped yet

John Doe: It seems like every step of the way that the magic Jack company is dropping the ball

John Doe: These issues need to be resolved. I've already been waiting for over a month and a half

Ermin: I understand your point but this is the only option we have here to rectify the problem

John Doe: the way to rectify the problem is to ship it

John Doe: Your just giving me more lip service. I've been getting lip service for a bout a month

John Doe: After being wrong so many times, why should I have faith?

Ermin: I will be right with you.

Ermin: ok

John Doe: it's 2:25 PM.

Ermin: i will send a report rigth after our chats for this issue

John Doe: Is it policy to disconnect from the customer without giving them a chance to respond? and without resolving the issues? if not Randy should be fired. He disconnected the chat before answering my questions and resolving the issues.

John Doe: From what I've heard from other customers, magic Jack employees often use these tactics

Ermin: there are some issues that can't be resolve while the customer is online

Ermin: there are necessary reports that should be made to resolve it

John Doe: I've been trying to solve these problems for over a month.

John Doe: The problems should have been addressed then before letting things fester

John Doe: I want this and all the previous chats in the report

John Doe: This type of abuse is why magic Jack has such a bad reputation

John Doe: The magic Jack company needs to start taking customer service seriously

Ermin: its the shipping department that should fix this, im sending the report after our conversation

John Doe: Okay I'll check again tomorrow

Ermin: ok

John Doe: But like I said yesterday the excuse that was given, was that the payment was not authorized. for one reason or another I've been stalled for over a month and a half

John Doe: All check again tomorrow. Goodbye

Ermin: that staus will appear only when the device is on its way, as of the moment it is still on verification stage

Good eye. I didn't notice that it didn't say "plus"

On my order information it seems to indicate on the part number that it is a magic Jack plus.
(Onlookers, you may not be able to get a magic Jack plus at the price that I did. I had to try several times before I got the lower price. Apparently they charge a different amount depending on what phone number you call from.)

Products Ordered
Product Code Quantity Price Subtotal
REGULATORYFEES4.8-T 0 $3.16 $2.40
MJPLUS4995-T 1 $49.95 $49.95
STDSHIP795-T 0 $15.90 $0.00
Total: $60.68

Shipping Status
Post Mark Date: 08/03/2011

The post office seems to acknowledge receipt of the package. United States postal system is inconsistent, I might get the shipment in a couple of days or a couple weeks. Probably the latter. I plan on posting an a report after I receive it.

I'm a betting man, and I would bet it is the Plus you are getting charged for. When it shows up on your doorstep is a totally different betting proposition.

They probably have a decent amount of them sitting in a warehouse pending final approval on all the system testing being done.

I would be curious how they came up with the $60.68 total. If you take off $49.95 for the unit, that leaves $10.73, according to my calculator. There is no combination of listed shipping charges and fees that will get you to that number.

Good eye.

Magic Jack's equivalent of Ebonics? The magic Jack company must be using the same fuzzy math as Obama and his party. It doesn't matter what the answer is, as long as they try. It's not math, it's magic math.

Remember last summer was supposed to be the "summer of recovery". Spending our way out of debt is working really well, isn't it? It seems that politicians no matter what party affiliation seem to use magic Jack math.

See if you can understand the magicJack receipt and the magic math.

Nope. There is obviously an invisible number in there somewhere.

Looks like they're ripping you off on the shipping, for one thing. Hell, even the invoice pretty much indicates they doubled the shipping charge, if I'm interpreting their codes correctly.

It's a confusing mess, but he isn't getting charged double for shipping, I don't think.

60.68 less the 49.95 for the device leaves 10.73 to be split between shipping and fees. It's not even enough for the shipping listed in the total. If they only charged him 7.95 for the standard shipping listed to the left, that leaves 2.78 for fees. Makes no sense in an event. Maybe they are being nice and giving him a discount for being so late.

more magic math and shenanigans?

Post by PoorMan »

The inconsistencies are scary. I was afraid they might not wait 30 days for my trial period before charging my account. So as a precaution I checked my credit card account, and I now see there is $52.35 charge pending on my account from magic Jack. While it is nice to see that the pending charge of $52.35 is less than the $60.68 that is posted online in my order information; I hope they are not trying to cheat me of my 30 day trial. Time will only tell, it depends on what day the charges go through.

Image

If I recall correctly the advertisement claims that the credit card would not be billed until after the 30 day trial period. If I recall correctly the advertising indicated that we would have a 30 day trial period, that we could try the product and return it no questions asked. But if people are being billed before they are receiving their product......

That number at least makes some sense. It would be the 49.95 plus the 2.40 fee mentioned in the other invoice.

A pending charge is just that, pending. It hasn't been technically taken from your credit/debit account on that date. Although it usually does reduce the amount you can charge or take out of your account so it has the same effect. Companies will typically do that to see if you have enough credit limit/cash to cover the purchase you are trying to make.

I'm betting you will see the 52.35 go away and be replaced by the 60.68 at some time in the future, which should be after your 30 days. That's obviously only a guess since it is MJ we are talking about.

Actually, it is a rip off either way or an ordinary price increase. Their actual shipping costs are probably less than $ 1.50 and the alleged " regulatory charges" which do not ad up any way you calculate them are nothing more than a junk fee. I do not understand why would anyone go for this instead of waiting till the device shows up in stores.

$7.95 for standard shipping is no more of a rip off than any business out there, unless they are running a weekend free-shipping promotion or offer free ship-to-store like a few do. About a month ago I got so pissed off trying to buy a locally hard to find replacement part. It was around $2 on quite a few web-sites, but with S&H running from $8-$12.

Anyway, I agree with you 100% on waiting for it to show up in a retail store. This forum is littered with complaints on shipping and return issues with the regular MJ. The Plus will obviously be no different. It is WAY easier to decide when your 30 days is up at Best Buy and return it to them.

Well, here's a somewhat interesting side note I just stumbled across on Yahoo....
Nasdaq stocks posting largest percentage increases
Top 10 Nasdaq-traded stocks posting largest percentage increases

On Friday August 5, 2011, 6:06 pm EDT

NEW YORK (AP) --

A look at the 10 biggest percentage gainers on Nasdaq at the close of trading:
Marchex Inc. rose 21.4 percent to $9.53.
BG Medicine Inc. rose 18.8 percent to $8.16.
Web.com Inc. rose 15.1 percent to $11.94.
Blackbaud Inc. rose 13.7 percent to $26.78.
Anika Therapeutics Inc. rose 13.5 percent to $6.79.
Grand Canyon Education Inc. rose 13.1 percent to $16.16.
MagicJack VocalTec Ltd. rose 11.1 percent to $21.72.
Multi-Fineline Electronix Inc. rose 10.0 percent to $20.87.
Heartware International Inc. rose 9.9 percent to $64.75.
ComScore Inc. rose 9.6 percent to $14.25.
So MagicJack's stock value rose 11.1 % in a week that was otherwise fairly bleak on Wall $treet?

I don't pretend to be a stock market expert by any means, but it would seem that the only viable reason why the stock could be more valuable, especially in not exactly favorable market conditions, is that there's a very reasonable expectation of the company increasing profits in the very near future.

Which of course, would be the likely outcome if they actually had something to sell. And not the same thing they have already been selling since 2007.

Or am I reading this all wrong somehow?

There's no doubt that large stock purchases by officers or other insiders who have an expectation of good things happening in the future can make the price go up.
