Porting number into MagicJack Plus process question

Post by diggeryo »

I purchased a MagicJack Plus. When I set it up, I had MagicJack assign one of their phone numbers to it, so I could test it out for a little bit.

After being satisfied with everything, I set up my landline number to be ported over to my MagicJack Plus. This process just yesterday completed successfully.

However, now when I log into my MagicJack account, I have both phone numbers listed with my account: the original number provided by MagicJack, as well as my ported landline number.

Can someone tell me what this means? Does it mean if either number is dialed, it will ring to my MagicJack Plus? Or, now that the porting process is complete, will my original MagicJack Plus number disappear at some point?

Thank you,
Mike.

I would just call your ported number and see if your MJ rings. Simple and easy way to test..

Not having a plus or having ported my number it is possible your orig number is just showing till it isnt anymore ( something MJ does internally after a port)
I am sure someone else on here who has ported their number can tell you if they still see or saw their orig assigned number..

MJ is slow in removing old numbers from the system. When I ported OUT one of my two MJ numbers , my MJ kept on working for a couple of weeks with the old number. pretty strange, I could call both from my cell phone where the MJ number was ported to and from my old MJ and have the same caller ID....

I have just finished the same process. Ported my home number that we have had since 1947 to MJ. Only took about 3 days fo MJ to complete, (Just last week).

The original number issued to our MJ is still listed on the account, but calling that number results in a recorded message that the MJ number has not yet been assigned.

Thank you everyone for all your ideas. I did just call the original MJ number and got the same message that pshivers heard. So I assume at some point, the original number will be deleted from my log in account.

I tried to port my number and got the message: "We're sorry, your telephone number cannot be transferred at this time. Please check back in the future."

I checked with my carrier and they said that Porting is allowed and that MJ will have to request it.

So what do I do now?

Thank you,

That is simple, you have 2 numbers on account but only one number can be active.

How many times must I make the request to MagicJack before MagicJack will actually make the request from my provider?
