Lights on MJPlus devise Ethernet connection

Post by peterna »

Registered new Plus today on Intel iMac and transferred existing original magicjack phone number. Plus worked fine.

Removed devise, connected std Belkin Ethernet cable (same one as I had been using successfully to previously connect original magicjack to my pc when needed), and connected devise USB to power adapter, and plugged it in.

First call via my cell phone connected to Panasonic DECT 6.0 but vocal msg said intended receiver was not available. After that there was only a "beeping" sound when phone receiver was picked up.

Unplugged phone from power, waited a minute or so, and then plugged it back in. After a couple of minutes, phone would receive several calls from my cell phone. When receiver is picked up now there is a standard dial tone.

Noticed there are two small lights on Plus devise next to internet connection slot. Now that non-computer connected is working one of the lights is solid green and the other is flashing orange. (Didn't see these lights initially when phone was not working).

As this may happen again, I am concerned about the above and would like to know what went wrong (even if it was my fault)

Secondly, what are these lights for?

It actually sounds like the phone went dead. Maybe not the battery, but if it's an extension of the base it may have lost sync with the base. The green light just means that you have connectivity with your router. The blinking orange or amber light mean it's passing data which is good. All sounds like it's working as it should and you probably just had a fluke with the phone itself.
