Not able to receive calls, but can dial out...?

Post by Magnam357 »

Anyone have an issue where no one can call into your MJ+, but you can call out to everyone (mostly everyone, still have issues calling certain numbers)?
This started on Jan. 19th, the night before was just fine. Using MJ+ with or without the computer makes no difference. The only way to receive a call is by calling a google number that forwards to my MJ+ number. As usual, tech support is right on to of things, it only took me 45 minutes for someone to answer my tech support request. Anyone having similar issues?tell me that they get a recording that "your call cannot be completed as dialed, please check the number and try again"......and some get "You have reached a non working number, announcement 14, 1,5,0,-1"

Is everyone trying to call you in the same area code (that is, from the same phone company)? I'm thinking that someone has changed the routing between magicJack/YMAX and the other phone company. If the calls are all from the same company, you might try calling their support and asking them to test the routing.

Same area code, different phone carriers. Had been working just fine until Jan. 19th. What puzzles me is that they are getting different messages of why they can't get through? Time for me to get some money back and go for Nettalk. Too many unknowns with MJ. Support is in the realm of the telegraph! Magicjack???? How about MagicCrap! I'd have better luck with a Magic Carpet!

Still sounds like a routing issue between the local carriers and YMAX - the problem is who made the change and who has to make the fix! Before you return the MJ you might ask one of your callers to call their carrier to complain and see what the carrier says or does? Worth a shot anyway.

Petres - did you contact MJ+ support, if so, what did they tell you? Engineers are working on it?....I've heard that before!!! Very close to going to Nettalk if they can't get this figured out soon! One interesting update...I had trouble calling certain numbers for the last 10 months, within my city, but now I can call them! Hope it lasts. Maybe they are trying to get things worked out. The clock is ticking if they want to continue business with me.

Magnam-

The problem is still there: I still cant receive calls from anybody. This started 3-4 days ago. I tried to contact Magic Jack Support last night and today BUT nobody answered my chat requests after 30 minutes so i gave up.

So no support from Magic Jack AND people cant even call me now all the sudden. I can still make calls out though.

ALSO, if Magic Jack Support is reading this, Im located in Iowa City, IOWA and my phone number is (319)855-5036. Please check on this for me and fix it ASAP. Thanks!  :x

There is an answer to this problem contained in another thread. It worked for me!
barkgrove2 wrote:Hi, had this same problem - mj+ just started going to voicemail without ringing. I have it plugged into my dlink wireless router. Haven't had a problem at all, ever. Noticed on my e-mail that I had a voicemail message but I had been home and phone didn't ring, had the same problem this a.m.

I unplugged the mj+ from the router and electricity and "rebooted" it as per the normal response form live chat. Still didn't work. Brought it upstairs and plugged it directly into my USB - still nothing. Went into MENU and down at the bottom there is the "restart". I clicked on that and voila !! back in business. More than likely I got lucky, might work for you, might not, but there is another thing to try so you don't have to waste your life with live chat. good luck
