MJ+ Proxy change?

Post by shleets »

I ran Wireshark and verified that my MJ+ is registering to the Los Angeles proxy. Since I'm very close to Chicago I would rather register there and see if this will eliminate some of my clipping/choppy voice. I have read how to do it with a host table but if I want to use it out of the router how does it get hard-coded into the MJ+. How does MJ+ determine which unit is registering where? Is there a WEB or telnet interface to talk to these devices? I also found something very interesting that when I ran Wireshark MJ+ has a different IP than my WAN port. I ran a test right from my PC with MJ+ connected via USB and the PC directly into cable modem. I tried to do this out of a HUB but was getting limited information from MJ+.

Ping stats to LA proxy not the best.

Ping statistics for 216.234.70.128:
Packets: Sent = 102, Received = 99, Lost = 3 (2% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 87ms, Maximum = 1550ms, Average = 172ms

16 hops to LA on the tracert.

Chicago stats:

Ping statistics for 216.234.69.8:
Packets: Sent = 95, Received = 89, Lost = 6 (6% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 38ms, Maximum = 1356ms, Average = 76ms

Double the response time but more packet loss.

13 hops total.

any suggestions??

Was able to change to a new proxy. Clariety is better, however there is about a 10 second delay for the call to connect. I will see how this goes.

How do you change MJ+ to use new proxy?
Thanks.

1. Find IP your registering to with wireshark

2. Build static route in your router of that IP and point to an unused IP on your internal network.

3. This prevents MJ+ from getting out of your router to register to that IP.

4. MJ+ will then use the next pre-programmed proxy to try to register to.
