question on MJ+
I'll be purchasing a MJ+ for my nephew, but he and his roommate do not have a computer or internet service. I know I will have to set it up at my home for him, but will he need a router? I'm curious what the router connection has to do with it. Thanks in advance!

MJ is a VOIP service. The I in VOIP stands for INTERNET!!!
So without him having an internet service is like buying a car without a gas tank, not going to get very far ( unless you live on top of a hill of course, and then it is most likely a one way, one time trip).
So discussing why he needs a router is kinda a moot point.
And no the MAGIC in Magic Jack doesnt mean it works via Magic!!

I'm literally in tears right now. Did that just really happen??? I guess I don't feel so bad about the cdloader.exe question after all.bitstopjoe wrote:MJ is a VOIP service. The I in VOIP stands for INTERNET!!!

Well even her question wasnt stupid per se.... She obviously didnt know it needed the internet to work. Maybe she saw the infomercial and it wasnt clearly explained. Beats me, but yes a little research would have helped.
I didnt say what I said to be-little her, I was just trying to make a point why the Plus would not work for her nephew. However my sense of humor does kick in and I figured I would make my response entertaining.
I am sure I was a lot nicer to her than some others on here would/could have been. As I have been cursed out for mearly suggesting someone do a search first.

I meant it to be funny as opposed to demeaning. I just thought it a funny way to explain what VOIP meant.. So if you laughed then I did my jobmjplus2000 wrote:Now I feel bad. Joe's comment just struck me funny. I have to admit that it would be very easy to assume you just plug it in the power and it works!! My apologies to the o.p.
I hope the OP laughs as well.. I laugh at all the dumb stuff I do all the time..
If she wants to yell at me she is more than welcome too, either here or in a private message.

MJ+
If you people can't answer an honest question from a newbie without acting soooooo superior, then as far as I can tell, the best place for MJ, MJ+ support, Reviews, etc... is shoved far far away where the sun don't shine.

I did answer your question without being mean or superior. I even defended you and why you posted it.suzabelle1955 wrote:If you people can't answer an honest question from a newbie without acting soooooo superior, then as far as I can tell, the best place for MJ, MJ+ support, Reviews, etc... is shoved far far away where the sun don't shine.
I have to assume you don't understand humor ( sarcasm). Hopefully the next time you post something like that, no one REALLY jumps into your $hit. You know where us "superior" types don't have the sun shine ( YES THAT WAS SARCASM, just wanted to be sure this time you understood that this time).
Hey look at it this way, sure you were embarrassed some, BUT at least you didnt go out and buy it and now have to go through the hassle of returning it, especially if you were to buy it mail order via MJ.
Oh well..

Maybe then they can find a bank which is unsecured as well and rob it too, right? I am sure there are even a few grocery stores they can knock over as well. Also why should she buy a laptop?? STEAL IT, right? I mean why not? All the way baby....simpletech wrote:Buy a real cheap laptop that has wireless capabilities. Then if the neighbors have an unsecured wireless router they can steal their neighbors wireless service and your nephew and his roommate are both happy.
Yeah great advice, steal.. Way to go..
P.S. For those who don't understand scarcasm ( and you know who you are)??? Sigh..
