What Joe said... I thought the set up was actually quite amazing. I haven't had a chance today to completely put it through its paces, but it worked flawlessly on the few calls I made.

Should have some time over the weekend to go through the comprehensive feature set. FWIW, I'm using an older v. of the MJ dongle (v. 2) and an older Uniden DECT 6.0 cordless phone on a Windows 7 machine and Verizon FiOS.

IMO, this is a sweet, elegant solution to use Google Voice as you would POTS. I really don't even think about it (GV) any more, which is ideally how technology should be.

I know many MJ users have excellent and reliable results. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. Redpepper's GV app makes it a reality for me. After making some calls on it over the weekend, I give it two Darkman thumbs up!

A couple of questions....

Does the app allow for you to use an existing Google voice account, because it seems to be forcing you to go through the whole registration process. Yeah, I know Google is free, so it wouldn't cost me anything to set up a new number. I'd just rather use the one I already have (trying to streamline my list of phone numbers, not expand it at the moment).

And is there a way to do this without using the Chrome browser, because I really can't stand that thing.

I can answer this question, maybe. I used an existing GV account, and in fact am able to switch back and forth between 2 GV accounts I set up prior.

I did however have to sign up for a gmail with one of the GV accounts today, since you have to forward to a gmail account to get the phone app to work. I think a gmail account is necessary, I couldn't get the one GV to work forwarding it the non-gmail account I originally used to open the GV account with.

For clarification, the "GVJack" App is a modern single-site web browser based program.

You do need a Gmail e-mail account. Even if you already have a Gmail e-mail account, you can sign up for a new separate Gmail e-mail account to solely use for phone calls.

Please see http://www.pcphonesoft.com/gvjackappdetails.html for a product snapshot and a list of quick start setup instructions.

Incremental Release 1.003 is stable and the main service affecting wrinkles have now been ironed out.

A very special thanks goes to a number of initial users including some from this forum that chimed into the PCPhoneSoft Support Forum to detail the initial problems, send in log files and in some cases kindly allowed us to remotely log into their computers to test when we could not reproduce certain issues on any of our in house computers. Your efforts were very much appreciated.

Happy GVJack customer

GVJack app is working well now, for my computer-challenged mother-in-law, who lives with us. It took a little getting used to, but she is fine with it now. Purchased/registered today.

I suppose it helped that I was already a Google Voice user, though I wasn't using many of its features.

In case anyone needs to be reminded of the 30% discount, good through today.

The GVjackapp works very nicely. I switch back and forth without even unplugging the dongle on ocassion. I just exit the GVjackapp and run MJ's Update to start up the MJ softphone.

I can also just exit the MJ softphone and startup the GVJackapp when I want.

Very nicely done!
