Help! Problem with re-activation of MJ device!

After wasting a ton of time with useless live chat help on MJ web site it is a great frustration. The problem I have is the following:
I need to re-activate my MagicJack device which was deactivated due to expiration. When I plugin MJ to USB it loads and starts with Dial Pad and Pop Up window which prompts you to login as an existing user. After logged in I have several options:
1. Upgrade device for 1 Year,
2. Upgrade for 5 years
3. Use received subscription renewal code
When chose upgrade for 1 year and also use of the phone number (I have another MJ Plus device and recently added new phone number) I get to the final page where I suppose to Complete My Order by clicking on the button. I suppose to see another window where you add your credit card (back side) security code and complete order, but instead I keep getting the following Script Errors:

Regardless of my choice Yes or No I keep getting the same JavaScrip Errors over and over again. I tried to use another machine and got the same results. Does anyone had the same problem before? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Need to re-activate device and use new phone number with it.

For KB927917 error see http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4384 ... 927917-ie8 . It recommends a specific fix for IE8 to get rid of this particular problem.

You may also want to try to install and use the latest version of the Google Chrome or the Firefox browser to use instead of Internet Explorer to try to move forward. This way you always also have a backup if something like this happens again.

If all else fails you can now reuse your magicJack for Google Voice and get a new free phone number from them and more features.

Thank you for the reply to my post and providing link to fix to IE8 as IE7 compatibility mode problem. I personally do not like IE and do not use it at all. My favourite browser is Mozilla. But the point is: when you have to re-activate MagicJack after it was deactivated, you have to register the device by connecting it to USB and following registration process. You can't re-register MJ by logging in to your account on MJ web site. So when you plug in deactivated MJ into USB the software starts and shortly you see on your screen Dial Pad and that stupid Pop Up window which I believe based on IE settings and there is no way (as far as I know) how to avoid registration without entering information into that window. You can't do registration on the browser of your choice. The mentioned pop up window has no close, no other buttons except those fields you have to fill, even use of right button is disabled. I think MJ developers made it intentionally for the security reasons. I tried to follow the registration of deactivated MJ on 2 machines under Windows XP and 7 and I keep getting the same Script Errors. Is there any other way around to reactivate deactivated MJ???

It sounds like the GVJack App might be your only way forward to reuse and setup phone service on your deactivated MJ dongle.

Thanks for your reply! But how could one know that his MJ device could not be re-activated? The point is: when I plugin my device it prompts me to follow the activation process and allows me to reach the final page with allowed services (1 year, 5 years, Add new phone number, reactivate old phone number etc.). The only problem I have is the Java Script Error, which prevents me from Completing My Order.
Where could I find more detailed info about reusing my old device via GVJack App?

You can still reactivate your deactivated MJ device by re-registering it. The problem you're getting has something to do with your browser actually. I'll suggest you need to do these things:

Open a new IE browser >> click on Tools then click on Internet Options. Click on Advanced tab. Under Browsing, uncheck the "Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer) ON" and the "Disable script debugging (Other) ON" then click Apply then Ok.

Thank you! You are absolutely right, I too supposed that the problem related to the browser (ie) in this case and wanted to find a solution to finish the registration by avoiding those Sript Errors. I actually, done what you suggested above when tried to resolve a problem in the first place, but it didn't help. I still was getting the Errors. Before Debugging was active when I chose Yes for continue scripts on the page Microsoft Script Editor was starting. My guess is the actual problem relates to the IE version (or newer update). As I am a Linux person, I don't want to waste my time solving those problems.
Finally, I just used my friend's machine (windows xp and older ie version) I was able to finish registration.
So if someone gets the same problem I would recommend to use ie older version 7 at least (?).
Also, my MJ device was deactivated more than 1 year, and now I can use it again. So those who say the opposite may not be right.

1. Plug in the MJ plus device
2. You need to select where you bought your MJ Plus
--> Email address used when ordering AND either Credit Card Number used or Order Number or Zip Code<--
3. Click on "Or login to existing magicjack account" found at the top right corner of the page.
4. You need to use your current email and password.
5. You will see 2 options, you will need to select the 2nd one.
a) Register as a new device"
b) "Replace a current magicJack (your subscription and remaining year/years will be transferred to your new device, and your old magicJack will be expired)"
6. Select your old phone number
7. Agree to the TOS and the next following pages will present you with the usual upsells (add years/IPP/Insurance).

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Once service is transferred to new MJ PLUS, the standard MJ will be deactivated, and will be rendered useless, cannot be used anymore

The above is a quote from you from a different thread regarding MJ+ transfers but also using the term "deactivated". Your advise is correct but perhaps we need some terminology refinement in the forum to help avoid confusion or accidentally taking something out of context (i.e. in the quoted case above the MJ was permanently disabled versus the current thread where the MJ was temporarily deactivated because user did not renew his/her subscription in time).
