Call Waiting - Viewing Inconing Name and/or Number

Post by jimginas »

when on a call and hearing the beep for an incoming call "Call Waiting", I do not see the number or name showing a call is actually coming in on the phone's screen. Is there a procedure to allow a visual of the incoming call?

Does your phone support call waiting caller ID? Not all do. Check your manual..
Also, unless the caller is in your phone's directory you will not see their name in caller ID with MJ, just their number.

Unless something changed recently, regular magicJack dongles do not support any form of call waiting caller id display on the phone.

If you want to add the capability, the Magicfeatures Plugin does add call waiting caller id. You can try it out free for a few days to see if it meets your needs before purchase.

Yup, phone supports Caller ID. Did when hooked to reg house
line.

So understand if we want to see the Caller ID, initial trial period, but then we have to pay???

I didnt say if it supported Caller ID, I said does it support Call Waiting Call ID, they are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS...
And as Red Pepper said MJ natively never supported Call Waiting Caller ID ( unless things have changed)...

Your reply above was just a bit confusing.

I suspect you are actually saying you agree with Red Pepper in the mJ+ does not natively support CWID.

CID: Caller ID (Retrieve incoming ID while not on a call)
CWID: Call Waiting Caller ID (Retrieve incoming ID while on an existing call)

Caller ID (CID) is part a mandatory part of the service. If your phone is CID compatible, it will retrieve the incoming ID. There is no additional charge for CID.

OK, Let me jump in here...

The FCC does NOT require MJ to offer Call Waiting Caller ID at all... neither Call Waiting Caller ID (number only) nor Call Waiting Caller ID With Name. And MJ does not offer it to its customers. For all practical purposes, the only way to add Call Waiting Caller ID onto one's MJ is to go the MJ-to-PC-via-USB connection route and download the pcsoftphone add-on feature set.

Thanks for the clarification. I apologize - you're right. I'm just saying for the services like caller id and call waiting that mJ does offer, you can't turn it off - except with PCPhonesoft.com's 'Magicfeatures' on a USB-enabled device.
