Localphone seems to have a very nice price for DID, but re there any features associated with it? Is there selective call blocking and/or other call handling?
I can't find anything on their web site, or GOOGLE. I'm guessing at their price, all they are offering is just a number to dial into.
Does Localphone have a list of calling features

You have only two things : Call forwarding
Voice mail
Also, they introduced now the possibility to use for your caller ID all the numbers which you registered with them for long distance, like your cell phones or other VOIP providers. That can saver you money for a US DID if you only need a foreign one.
Some of their DID are on the expensive side but if you use the ones for one $/month there is really nothing to complain about, I was very pleased with the call quality- having people calling me at no costs to them for a dollar per month you cannot beat it.
The great thing on them is the combination of VOIP,cheap international long distance and travel card. My mother who is now overseas for the summer has her Obi with her plus she has there a local prepaid phone with the right to unlimited calling to one selected number for about 1 $/week , so she selected a Localphone card access number and now she can call the US for0.5c/min and even call the numbers there much cheaper than through her prepaid cell.
They also DO have a live customer service, you have to call their headquarters in London but for 1c/min who cares!

You can block inbound calls by number. I don't think there is a limit.

OK, I bought a few months worth of Localphone. From the description on their web site, I can forward calls from my new DID to an existing number, yet your signature seems to indicate that you are running a Localphone number as one of your Obi110 lines, along with GV, which is kind of what I would like to do.N7AS wrote:You can block inbound calls by number. Any tips for someone new to localphone? Many thanks.
In any case, it's only a couple of bucks and will amuse me for 2 months at the very least.
You can configure Localphone as your VOIP provider on your Obi. Information about your SIP ID,password and server you can find on your Localphone web sitre under Manage your DID.
For unknown reasons, Obi is NOT preconfigured for Localphone and you will have to write your own digitmap. As a newbie, it would take you about 3 months to figure that out. However, on Obitalk forum, you do a search for RonR postings( a former extremely knowledgeable forum member who left) dealing with Localphone digitmaps including re routing if necessary. It was good enough for me.Give it a try and if it still does not work, send me a PM by the week end. It would be stupid to forward your calls at cost if you can let your home phone ring!
Localphone can be a bitch with routers, especially ATT u-verse gateways. After you configured your Obi, put your router setting for Obi into DMZ+ if you have audio problems.
