Hi all,
Has any body figured out how to run MJ from a wifi enabled cell phone. I picked up a Samsung Europa cell phone while in UK which has wifi capabilities. I have a mj+ and regular mj. The mj+ is used as our main home number and the regular mj I take with me when I travel abroad and plug it into my netbook when I can find wifi.
If I can make this cell phone with wifi access my mj account and make calls this would be great. I can then call home as a local number. Have been looking at MJ apps but apparently it only works on an Iphone.
Update,
Installed Google voice and Groove IP light, and can make free calls on my home wifi. The reason I used the light version is it was free and tested to see if it worked, and it worked for what I needed it to do. The only problem this only works in the USA so may not work when visiting UK.
As yet cannot get MJ to work as I need to somehow upgrade my Android 2.2 to 2.3 or higher. Not as easy as you think without turning your cell into a brick.
Still looking and up for any more suggestions. Brit
Update,
Finally got it working on my Samsung Galaxy Europa.
Since my last post figured out how to upgrade my phone to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. This allowed me to download MJ app. Tried it and it works. I am running it via my home Wifi as I do not have a data plan. The only problem seems to be as I walk around the house there is some breakup but if I remain still it is OK. I also went to my local library and used there Wifi.
For anybody who is interested it was not easy, first you have to root the phone, then find the right software upgrade for your phone and then flash it. Any of these processes could brick your phone and also cause phone warranty problems but if it is an old phone you have nothing to loose.
