people i call cannot hear me but I can hear them and on people calling me I cannot hear them but they can hear me. I borrowed another PC and everything worked fine on the same router and modem combination I used with the failed calls. I disabled all security to test and still no changes.

If it worked on one PC but not another, then there's (obviously) a problem with the PC wherein MJ doesn't work. Could be your Windows firewall settings on that PC; could also be a problem with that PC's USB port or its USB settings (assuming you're using a MJ that's plugged into a USB port and not a free-standing MJ+).

The problem there is that your drivers are not loading properly... Just go to your device manager then go to "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" in there look for USB audio device or TigerJet... If you see USB audio device just right click on it and click on update driver select update automatically the click on next until it is finished. And if you see TigerJet right click on it and uninstall it after uninstalling it right click on "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" then select scan for hardware changes... it should fix the problem on switching from headset to telephone and vice versa.

Then if it is not changing from headset and telephone check your firewall mostly this is caused by your antivirus firewall blocking the connection of the magicjack. If you are only using a windows firewall just add the ports 5060 and 5070 ports there same as if you are using the router.

MJ Problem

Post by MattInLA »

This can still be caused by an old or marginal router. MJ is extremely demanding on routers, get the newest one out there.

Same Problem

Have been using MagicJack with no real problems for over 4 years until the same thing began happening to me. It took the "third" online tech to solve my problem. Here is the gist of her instructions.
You need to go to Control Panel and then Network Sharing Center. Double click on the connection you are using. Then here are her instructions:

Allana: In the box under "This connection uses the following items:", please scroll down and look for "Internet Protocol (TCP/IPv4)" the double click on it.
Joseph Wolpert: ok got it
MagicJack Help
Allana: . In Preferred DNS Server type in: 67.90.152.122, in Alternate DNS Server type in: 67.107.71.186 click OK and OK.
Joseph Wolpert: ok, done
Allana: To make sure you have the audio codecs that magicJack uses. Please do the following.
Allana: 1. Please go to http://www.divx.com/ and click Free Download
Joseph Wolpert: ok, installing now
Allana: 2. After the download please click on the file and select Run >>> after initializing Check I Accept the terms and click the Accept button,>>> then Uncheck the Converter , Codec and Web Player, only the Player should be left with a check mark the click Next >>> you can uncheck Norton and click Next…
Allana: 3. After Downloading and installation, please click Finish. No need to enter your email address…

This lady stayed on the phone with me while I made two 5 minute calls to verify solution. Hope this helps others.

I misspoke

No, I misspoke. The chat rep stayed online while I made two 5 minute tells calls. Phone support is just too much to ask for with MJ.

On your magicJack dial pad that you can see on your computer screen, please click menu and volume/headset control. make sure you toggle between telephone and headset there.

If using a phone, choose "Telephone" and If using a headset/speakers, choose "Headset"

then download and run the Recover Tool from the link below.
http://www.magicjack.com/site/downloads ... _setup.exe

Then it's expected that you can see "no device found" after.

Unplug your magicJack, wait 15 seconds, and plug it back in. And please let me know as soon as you can see your magicjack dial pad on your computer screen displays "Stock symbol: CALL". And make a call to test
