Expired New MagicJack

Post by madmax_5 »

I bought a new sealed magicjack but when trying to register it, there was no option. I talk to the online support at MJ and they said its expired. That the serial numbers have a shelf life. All I want to do is use in replacement of my old one b/c it broke. I tried using the rebuild_mj but i think i made it worst b/c all it does after I apply the upgrade is that MJ needs to be inserted to make calls and then closes. I can't find it anywhere to reformat or anything. All it shows up is Cd drive magicjack of 1.3mb. If I can save it at least to use with Google that would be a plus. Any help would be great! Thanks.

Dumb question, since most stores allow any where from 14-30 return, why not just bring it back, tell them it was a repackaged USED unit and either exchange it or get a refund.
Seems the easiest way to me to get this resolved quicky and WITHOUT MJ..

no i don't think its a dumb question. I guess i'm the dummy and I bought it from ebay. I trying right now to return it and get my money. The person is trying to say that there is no such thing as expired MagicJack. Fun times.

I get a reset flash memory map error using rebuild_mj

Any help with why or what I'm doing wrong?

Worse case you can go here http://www.pcphonesoft.com/ and look into the GVjack app which allows your usless MJ dongle to use Google Voice for free calls.
Always good to have a plan B...

Reading serial number

Post by electron »

Does anybody know how to read the serial for your MJ? I don't see it printed on the dongle itself.

Thanks!

Just right mouse click on the MJ dialer traybar icon and the serial number will appear in the menu that opens (i.e. A921xxxxxxxx or A113xxxxxxxxxx).
