Several times in our short life and limited usage MagicJack Plus, while on the phone have had what sounds like incoming call warning sounds. Person on the other end of the line seems to not hear it; but on our end it over rides the discussion. The tones are spaced like incoming calls ... but we don't have that option .... if that is available that is.
Additionally, yesterday while connected (to Amazon), got a rapid buzzing noise ... and then was disconnected. Was able to re-connect, and the lady said she had not done anything at her end; and was surprised when it broke contact.
I did contact MJ several days ago regarding poor and somewhat blurred sound from other party's responses. They ... MJ ... had me do an update via the computer.......... which to me seems odd and useless ........... since with the Plus version, we are not connected to the computer... just the router.
So.... does anyone have any ideas about the latest issue of the rapid buzzing of yesterday, with the resultant disconnection action? Our residence is a free-standing house; so interruptions from other phone users does not seem an option.
Thanks

Doonboggle - MagicJack service comes with Call Waiting. I *think* that if you log into your MJ account online and fish around the settings therein, you'll find a way to turn it off (if you wish).
As far as that buzzing and subsequent disconnect - a number of things could cause that but especially a defective MJ+ device, interference affecting a cordless phone's operation (if you're using a cordless phone on your MJ+), possibly placing your MJ+ too close to your router, probably running an ac power cord directly alongside the MJ+'s Ethernet cable, and probably using a very poorly shielded Ethernet cable (the cheapo cable that comes with the MJ+ should probably be swapped out for a better one from your local retailer). These are just a few things that come to mind off the top of my head.

Thanks for the suggestion, and it has merit since the buzz-buzz-buzz sounds did occur like I have heard in my past life with land line 'Call Waiting' feature.MagicJack service comes with Call Waiting. But how could that come about with the PLUS version? It is not connected to the computer; but a wall socket instead and to the router?
I'll go to MJ site and see if when I created our account, if I missed turning 'waiting' alert off.
Incidentally, we don't have any other phone system in the house. Reception for cell phone is not an option due to our location down somewhat in a low spot.
Regarding the router, yes, am connected to it using the MJs cable, which installs the MJ 'thingie' into the power socket about 2 ft. away ... and amongst the middle of all other connecting cables ... computer(s), printer, monitor, etc.
I did call into MJ shortly after installation, regarding poor sounding incoming talking discussions, and the technician had me do the program update I mentioned ... through the created account profile.
While it is too early to know for certain, but it did 'appear' to help ... a tiny bit.
But this brings back my earlier comment in this thread ... if computer, etc. is turned off, how can incoming calls be effected by it's signal ... since the 'thingie' is plugged into the 120 power socket??
Thanks

Doonboggle - Most of the MJ+'s phone "system" sounds - dial tone, busy tone, Call Waiting beeps, "stutter" dial tone (indicating there's a voicemail message waiting), error messages, etc. - are all actually small sound/audio files that are stored in the MJ+ device itself and are "turned on" when needed/appropriate by signal commands sent to it by MJ's computer servers.
When I was "talking" about the possibility of cordless phone interference, I was referring to the possibility that the phone you have connected to the MJ+ was a cordless phone.
Even though you use the MJ+ as a stand-alone device, your computer is used in two ways - a) When your MJ+ is connected to the pc via a USB port, and your pc is connected to the Internet via your router, the MJ+ (via the pc) checks to see if there is a programming update available from the MJ computer server(s) and if there is, downloads it; and b) it is usually via your pc that your router's internal settings are adjusted... if they are not set correctly, your MJ+ may not function correctly.

I connected with MJ chat earlier this morning, and afterwards tried to add a comment here. But 'apparently' it did not get posted.
What the chat person said, after a series of updates ... again ... was that the 'Call waiting' tones cannot be turned off; and that MJ was "working on a solution".
Is that the way you understand it?
THANKS !!

doonboggle - I just went online to check, and apparently they're correct - the Call Waiting beeps cannot be turned off. However, they'll only continue to beep (when someone else is trying to call you while you're already on a call) for as long as you've set the lengthy of your voicemail delay. In other words, if you've set your voicemail delay (in your online MJ account settings) for 30 seconds, you'll only hear the call waiting beeps for 30 seconds... at which point, if you don't "flash" to go to that incoming call, the caller will then be sent to your voicemail inbox and the beeping will stop.
HOWEVER, *some* digital *telephones* have an internal setting that (theoretically, at least) can allow the beeps to be suppressed (inaudible). The phone that you have connected to your MJ+ may or may not have such a feature (most do not though).
