Does "free incoming calls" expire on renewal date?

When I first set up MagicJack it had an option Free Incoming Calls. My renewal date is coming up. But I may not have broadband much longer. I don't want to renew for a year just to get another week of service. So I'm wondering if I let the service expire if I will still be able to receive incoming calls? Or does the device go completely dead when the time is up?
