cannot call canada

i am trying to call my wife who resides in canada. her area code is 226 and when i try calling i get a message saying`we`re sorry your call did not go through,please try your call again later`` this happned a few mths ago but when i reported it eventually worked..now i ahve been through their supported and tried upgrading the makic jack and same message..PLEASE HELP!!we have anewborn baby and im dying to talk to her
