Sorry, I had not read your latest post when I started composing my last one. It assumes that you still have the mjusbsp folder on your desktop as shown in your last picture.

Hi, Stewart, wherever you are on in some remote location!

Yes, I have it on the desktop, BUT I copied it to the C drive. I made a new folder in programs; THAT ONE IS NAMED FOO (AS IN Foo Fighters?)... and copied the desktop folder's contents into it. So I could retain the desktop folder and employ the version in my c drive. I have now tried this on both drives....Piggy is the drive I got it going on early on with trouble way back.....I don't understand why one drive should be any different from the other, both test excellent....but thing almost appears to work on Piggy, I even once got the loader window with the black bars....but then it died.

I just read that....common, this is totally INSANE! Piggy and foo, weeping marsupials and no sleep...you think this is NORMAL?

Lots of things happened....too many to share since I had no sleep and must head out now. BUT NOTHING THAT SUCCEEDED, ALAS. If you look at the first screenie of the desktop you will see I pureposefully made it with THE SHORTCUT MENU OPEN. iNTO WHICH, i TRIED TO ENTER THE EDITED EDATA IN BOTH FIELDS TEN THOUSAND TIMES. Each time, moving forward I would get an error message sahing windows could not find the file and make sure the path is right. which OBVIOUSLY IT was not.

But I will try all this over when I can. I want to know what the Impediment in this system IS. A software conflict? Is it remotely possible in this, my most powerful and fastest system, my ports are anemic?

ONE TEEENY REMAINING ISSUE: the folder remains on the desktop where I do not want it, but where the shortcut points.

I deleted the foo folder from the C drive and copied the desktop folder to the C drive. Now do I need to make a new shortcut to where the good folder now is?
Obviously, I can't delete the folder on the desktop given it is in use.

I don't like having more than a few icons on the desktop; I put shortcuts to the many I use in a folder I named SHORTCUTS. THAT IS ON THE DESKTOP.

I do not wanna mess this miracle up. So while I think the above is the Plan, I will wait for confirmation.

I emailed Mr. Bone and linked him to this last page.....also said I still wanna know what precluded normal installation in this system, felt he too might, for academic reasons and I would be thrilled to supply any info he felt might be missing to figure it out. Cause in the event even one other person has this misery....and not other active systems which luv MJ....we need to know. We need to know anyhow what the core issue was. Is.

I will now try to do over the post I just did which did not submit except to insects.

1) when I came home and booted into my main drive, hit start MJ, it started and at warpspeed….but presented with a Windows interface softphone…not the official MJ one! Why? Cause this is ad hoc installation? Maybe….but common, this is Mr. Gates’ whole MO! History of MS from jump! He is shrewd, ruthless opportunist re other peoples’ genius! The phone functions….even with the Bill & Melinda interface…..

….but MJ is now robbed of its pop ups….which I do not find annoying, and which I am sure subsidize the thing or did early on.
I will upload an image of the MS hi-Magic-Jacked interface. [NOTE: I saw I had not obfuscated my MJ number in the Gates' interface, so I deleted that, edited the image and uploaded the new one, but it would not go where other one was but it is at the bottom of this post.]

Next, Mr. Bone responded to my OMG Stewart Fix worked mail…and with insanely generous offer you will see when I paste that. But being compulsive computer cleaner….I employ Find Junk files AFTER I run the all other apps…..check the many dozen boxes to delete junk including bug reports, read mes, text files, U have no idea how many kinds….sometimes delete almost 2k in one run. So I might have to stop this for a bit so that error files can grow…..cause we need to know wut the foundational problem is/was in this system. It is important.

Very happy to see that this worked for you. Of course I am still curious as to the fact why magicJack would not install these files itself on your system.
If you would not mind. When magicJack is up on your system. Please hold down ctrl+alt and press F7 twice, release and a window from mj will pop up. It is called a bug report. If you could please send that to me, we would greatly appreciate it and as a token of our appreciation, if you give me a mailing address I will send you an additional magicJack for free.

Next, not to be greedy, but I still need to get rid of the transferred from Alien file on this desktop, and, I am sure, make new shortcut to where I copied it to my C drive. But I am too scared to try lest I might key in something not quite right and then I would have to buy Hemlock and drink it.

I should also give props to the Alien Donor (tho I could have used my other desktop)…..by uploading an image. Four pounds of Fierce….with the battery in.


I am deeply moved and nourished by this collective generosity and brilliance; just think if the world were more like this. Nirvana.

I am very happy....cause there was, in fact, an MJ bug report, I have already attached it to Richard, it was zipped. I can not wait to find out wut the deal was/is....cause part of me would like an orthodox installation in this system....tho the Stewart Fix was total miracle....but I would also like Bill & Melinda to STEP AWAYYYYY from my REAL MJ interface SO can IT CAN RETURN.

I asked Mr. Bone if, when he peruses the bug report and makes diagnosis....he could maybe post the results here for the Community.

Nobody freak or get upset, please….this is life/technology, this is a journey and a learning experience. This is not life and death or Global Warming, right?

But I will share the details…there are many, so, maybe get a beverage….this will not interest everyone.

1) remember from above….the first sign of pathology was the Windows interface replacing the MJ one. I had no clue that was just the begining!

2) I was taking clients from my evening worksite…& trying to troubleshoot wut was very broke between those.

3) While Firefox is my default browser and we know I have cable broadband, I also retain AOL free for email cause nobody discerning can go on dissing AOL given the reality of 9.0 optimized, the filing cabinet, the email configurations which are infinite; the carousel, the one click fixes. It is major. It is also based on ie.

3a) I now feel the software conflict somehow involves but is not limited to AOL….. as I run it on all my systems so there is much more investigation to go. Hopefully Richard Bone can fathom that bug file I SENT HIM…. I CAN’T WAIT.

4) Couple of hours ago, I suddenly became unable to open AOL. Got error messages I knew were wrong. I opened FX and was able to get online…if sluggishly and even access my AOL mail using it. So I knew it wasn’t RCN broadband.
I knew….it was MAGICJACK.

6) But first, cause troubleshooting demanded it….I opened AOL’s remarkable one click fixes…..This software is fabulous. I Ran them all…some require reboting. No good. Thus confirming….U bet, it is my MJ.

7) I then spent uber time deleting all of it; the files, the reg keys….using w explorer, search, W task Mgr in which I saw one MJ process would not go away.

I ran Hijack This….which I luv and learned to use myself cause nobody told me I shouldn’t until I was doing this for a year. .


I killed the DRF Java plug in….but the CLCVO (UTSCSI) would not die. I hit kill (fix) a million times, OK? I knew this was the core of the Satan thingy which was giving my AOL PMS. If only in this system. R we following this insane? Or, if normal....we are all now asleep.

For some reason….maybe I deleted them, there were no restore points to employ! So I got I hadda fix it …

I hunted down individual MJ files, including the UTSCSI.exe…I knew it was the main satan ne cause it would ot die, I hadda use my precious Unlocker to kill it on next reboot.

Slowly I killed all of them…broke my heart for obviously reasons…but it had to be done ….and we learn importantly from all miseries….this one is no exception.

I also killed the SJ tiger files, cleaned the reg with utilities after manually deleting the obvious keys yet again.
When I finished….and doing a clean install of AOL is hell…cause U loose those things which make you luv it to begin with….but I knew I would not have to…..I cleaned everything, rebooted and FINALLY...AOL functioned normally once again.

So we ---I don mean we literally, I think I mean Mr. Bone...still need to troubleshoot….maybe from the bug log….wut the deal is in this system with MJ. Maybe AOL is just a part of the conflict…but I did have a brief taste of heaven via the genius Stewart fix….but this tells us again, circumventing pathology, even with genius…is not what we are meant to do.

Gotta grow the health from the foundation up.

If Richard Bone gifts me by making differential diagnosis maybe with others re the bug log…I will post immediately.

And now I must send him another email and link him to this very important if not happifying stuff.

Edit: I forgot that in the midst of trying to troubleshoot and fix the returned Satan, I made on screenie. Of the exe file I got, from HJT and not being able to get rid of it WITH HJT..., was the core Satan one preventing the return of normal. I will now attach it. See highlighted file in HJT scan.....and then in find.

Some software conflict....gong beyond AOL I am sure...remember, MJ works perfectly on my other systems.

Update....the CSI Somewhere guys are on the case! I am keeping positive tude.

I came upon this; it rang some kinda bell.....cause I have employed several third party defraggers, one from my friends at iobit in China, auslogics, and one I adored which yesterday, AVG Pro flagged suddenly and so I got rid of it: JK defragGUI.

THIS IS a SATA-controlled system; both HDDs R SATA 2...original one (now Piggy, my backup drive) is a good WD and I got another, smaller one from Newegg for backup....both are 16 cache.

I have not gotten this patch yet....cause I am not sure I need it & they make it sound unfinished---like some dangerous BETA version Course, everything MS is unfinished....also crap, but hey.

Is there remote possibility that this could be even part of the problem re why MJ will not install normally in this system?

Thought of doing clean install of XP Pro, naturally makes me nauseated as it does all of is.....in case the issue is in the OS. But I always do wut I gotta do even when it is nauseating. Nausea is part of life, right?

Again, my backup drive is a clone of my main one....and my OS is not in a separate partition on either. I have, with everything, believe it or not, under 15GBs of data in the drives....and Piggy is 250GBs.

Any thoughts on this, Richard????

Ok, New Plan:

I download this iffy patch I came upohn re above to Piggy, my backup drive. If nothing crashes/blows up, I then try again to install my MJ on it. Then I will know if the issue the patch addresses was the Issue. Anything blows up I just reformat Piggy and do a full clone of my main drive onto it.

Pathetic that given the thousand post SP2 hotfixes, they plan 2 release another SP. But not AS pathetic....as VISTA.

Pathetic Update from Compulsive Jill:

Instead of sleepIng, and instead of being normal and waiting for data from Richard Bone and his people RE THE BUG LOG....which anyone with IQ above room temp (meaning not the President) WOULD DO....I wasted many more lifeminutes with premise that OK, , maybe sumthin corrupt in my OS fending off my MJ.

So, on my main drive, I did (no hurling, pls)....a repair install of xp pro. U can do this without making yrself more insane via the repair console.....wherein you gotta spend your whole life keying in command prompts.

Then I hadda update drivers and get all the post SP2 hotfixes over---like 90....they would NOT install, hadda register the dll files, i HAVE THEM IN A word doc.....but while that worked, I decided to finally try Sp3 from bill & melinda... who cares if it is BETA? And I did---not that easy to find on MS... and it was kinda cute.....replaced XP PRO SP2, now says SP3. Wut a thrill. NOT. I even capitulated and got ie 7 which I hate even more than 6, OK?

Firefox it ain't and NEVER WILL BE.

Pathetic part....after cleaning everything up, even including dup files, forget registry and junk---and the gazillion restore points all this made....with BIG, optimism, I am naive in that a lot....I then tried to install MJ in this exhaustively repaired main drive.

Same deal EXACTLY, OK? Then....I shot myself.

Hotfix THAT, Hillary!

Ok, I am back to an earlier insanity....but little more sophisticated; it involves the backup drive in my backup desktop....one of the two systems MJ works flawlessly in.

I pull the backup drive, Luci (It is an Hitachi and people think they are Lucifer, the new ones are not, but that is why she is named Luci....do not think about it, OK? This is called Jillythink.)

Remember, Luci like Piggy is bootable drive. All the drives in my desktops are. She is also an IDE drive running XP Pro.

Instead of hooking her up to the second station on my optical cable in this go to system, I get one of those no money SATA to IDE thingies on Newegg or wutever. And, OK I would need another data transfer SATA cable, but that's no money too. I have plenty of Molex plugs from this Antec PSU....I left them.
Then I hook Luci up in this system using one of the empty SATA controllers, put her in the empty bay in the optical cage, and enable her in the bios.
Howze that?

OK my lovely backup desktop would not be, OK, backed up. Internally. But I almost never use it. and the main drive, Jilly, is a fine WD which is in excellent shape. Actually, I could pull either one! They are both 80GBs.

But how would I jumper Luci? Cable select? My board could easily handle it and also my PSU.

Would this work? I mean unless HILLARY is in my BIOS, OMG! I would not put it past her!

Any options? Not involving anti-psychotic meds?

I got this from lovely Richard; I did it.....but nothing shows up in the log. The new log file in notepad remains empty.....so I wrote some now is the time for this log to fill up....nonsense just to have sumthn in it.

I think poor Richard is hiding under a piece of furnitre now. Aand who could blame the poor guy?

Hi Jill,

it looks like there is something wrong with the permissions for the user account. We need to see if the installer fails to write any files. For this purpose, the logging must be enabled. Here are the instructions on how to do this

First unplug the magicJack.

To enable logging, please add a value to the Registry, and also create a file pointed to by that value (it can be empty). Both the path and the log file name are stored in the Registry:

Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\talk4free\USB Softphone\ Right click on USB Softphone and add a new key called Install.
Now right click on install key and add a new string value.
Name it LogFile then right click on select modify and in value data type in C:\\inst.log
Now in C:\\ create a text document (notepad) file called inst.log
Now plug in the magicJack
Wait until the softphone comes up (or fails)
Unplug the device.

Send us the inst.log file.
We will analyze the log file and see why it the magicJack fails to start on your system.

Then.....after work, I Googled and tried all kindsa stuff re Admin rights---which I thought I had all of, OK?.....I even, via gpedit.msc and following the dots, found, after expanding windows installer, "prevent removable media for install" which was set to not set....I disabled it. Just in case, I mean....it THOUGHT it was set to ENABLED. U think these parts of Windows do ot, sometimes get DELUSIONAL ????? Common...they DO! Esp on April Fools' Day!

I rebooted and tried again....nothing. I will upload the screenie I sent to poor Richard on this arcane thingy which I had no clue existed.


Let's face it.....why prolong the PRE agony? I need to do a LONG FORMAT---maybe even a Boot n Nuke wipe...and clean install of my OS and EVERYTHING ELSE (o m g ) on one of my drives. Is there much we hate more than that? Only sticking knives in our ears, right? OK...and paying our TAXES.

My Plan was to then use the resident xp firewall temporarily, load my AOL to get online, get AVG Free tho I have the Pro version....get Firefox.

AND EVEN BEFORE DOWNLOADING the post SP2 90 hotfixes (Bite me Bill).....install my beloved MAGIC JILL/JACK!!!!!!

And I DID! AND GUESS WUT? Ding, Ding DINGGGG ....IT WORKED IMMEDIATELY!

Now all I gotta do is spend another 5 sleepless nites transferring files from Piggy and getting all my apps anew!

Infinite dragging and dropping from Piggy to this drive; more select all/move to folder....more downloads & employing my software CDs, keying in product codes... all of the usual. But I work fast.

Also learned...wasting time on repair install of XP Pro is, OK...A WASTE OF TIME. You do it, bite the bullet and do it right. Do not open the patient and remove PART of the APPENDIX or slap a bandaid on it! OK, Also, stay away from SP3 Beta; esp if one has broadband, download the pathetic patches the normal way. Real message: get a MAC. I am just not rich or smart enuff for that.

I am being vigilant re if anything I download or install creates a new conflict. So far, so good.

Again, Stewart....that, above made me laugh and tear up. Of course, my new anti psychotic meds are wearing off---each little pill has an MS logo---did you KNOW THEY MADE THESE? Microsoft? Makes sense, right?: cheaper than making decent software!! Medicated humans don't go either APPLE OR POSTAL.

They just do lots of clean installs, update all their anti-apps, run a thousand scans every day and download hotfixes happily.

MAGICJACK is GENIUS, a true paradigm of wut Capitalism is supposed to be, polar opposite of MS, and ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE is taking meds made by Verizon/Vonage, etc.

In classic 20-20 hindsight....it hit me yesterday, that the worst part of my mess was....it in no way owed to anything MagicJack. Not ONE thing. Fact was....sumthin in my system was messed up.

I suddenly got that you knew this right off.....and were just too elegant to say, listen U crazy be-atch.....stop wasting our time, this has zero to do with our genius device; you need to do a clean install!!

So now I feel bad in a whole new way.

But I just did not understand this....until I did. I HATE clean installs! This one not even yet finished....but almost. I read some people do this every few months!

So I apologize and again thanks for your kindness, time and elegance---FORGET EVERYONE AT MJ cause thisTHING IS AMAZING... in not saying right off what I now know was true.....but I just did not get it until...I got it.

Update/Retrospective clarification/celeb news

1) After restoring everything perfectly on newly formatted main drive--with clean install, Windows assigned C to main drive, D to backup driv3e and E to optical... I formatted Piggy and cloned main drive onto him; MJ now works on both. BUT...when I first booted into the formated & newly cloned Piggy, AOL did not work and I had 2 employ the AOL restore option. So maybe it really was part of the conflict no matter I have it on all 3 systems.

1a) there are threads all over here saying MJ tech people say Nero or Winamp mess MJ up. Well I left Roxio out, but I have both on these drives again and there is NO PROBLEM AT ALL.

1b) but....I followed an instinct, and instead of getting Comodo firewall...the last build is very complex and ver, very, very annoying in its infinite options and permission askings every three seconds.....and I got good ole spartan Zone Alarm.

2) In my desperation re insanity fix involving installing an IDE drive from backup desktop.....I forgot a total basic we all know: Windows will not run in any system in which it was not originally installed. (Gates would loose dead presidents) I KNEW THIS. But HYSTERIA DELETED THE REG KEY FROM MY BRAIN.

3) Today, Jay-Z and Beyonce got married. Just made my whole week, OK? Instead of getting her another 40M Rolls (been there, done that)....he got her a diamond-encrusted, solid platinum MAGICJACK!

Would I make this up?

Totally last post, I swear. but nobody gets a bigger kick out of....after struggling, when things get put right....than I. Every time I BOOT THIS SYSTEM & my MJ LOADS IMMEDIATELY...I almost can't believe it. C this? Suffering has a purpose!

How sweet is this attached? PERFECT. Virginal. I also note that like my HDDs, the MG is almost empty. Is because I haven't used it much?

(Yes, my go to drive, the smaller than Piggy one I got on Newegg... is named Hamster. I live in a no pet building, OK? This is my way of getting around it. Arrest me.)
