No dial ton on telephone on MacBook but works without teleph

I have spoke for hours with the people on the chat line. Upgrading and making sure that my device was set-up to TELEPHONE.. The device works only when I use the MacBook Pro Speakers and Microphone. When I plus a telephone I hear no tone even after setting the device to telephone. As I am using the Telephone on another MajicJack on my iMac and that it works fine there, the problem is not with the telephone. So it is either the Device that doesn't work (what I have been telling them all along) or I need to make a special set-up on the MacBook Pro. I checked all the settings and theya re identical to my other Mac.

Anyone with a solution or trick?

Just a shot in the dark here BUT............ You think MAYBE you might have better luck if you posted this in the Mac section?? Or didn't you take the time to peruse the different areas??
Just sayin.....
