Canadian numbers
I was just sent an email from Dan regarding when Canadian numbers are going to be available. His response was end of 2008 or the beginning of 2009. Just wanted to share that with anyone who was wondering.
Re: Canadian numbers

Scams?? Are you serious?? Learn how to work the unit. Before I bought mine I asked the question, and got a real response, it will be a year, maybe more.Get rid of your Bell home phone, keep your cell phones. When one of your friends or family calls, don't answer your cell, just call them back using magicjack. I have had this thing almost 3 months, and have recommended it to ALL my friends.ruscom wrote:yep there is not enough of us up here in Canada to warrant any local area codes, as advertised when they got our $$. I am really sorry I recommended this little device to many of my friends. I guess there are scams every where ya look
Do as steve4444 says! This thing rocks for me and many of my friends too.I'm in BC and don't have a problem....maybe you should check your wireless phones if you use them and /or your service provider?....for me no more Telus = savings of $800.00 a year...MJ costs $20.0/ year! do the mathruscom wrote:this little gizmo never worked good enough for me. keeps cutting in and out on every call I tried and everyone would get pissed that I was using it, so I gave up on it. It is not my bandwith, so there is sits . Too bad it wasn't bigger, I would have a use for it... a door stop
Sooner or later - hey it's a startup - they have no idea

1) gotten their coverage promises in the US solved, and
2) fixing their calling to Cdn numbers,
before they open up the market.
With all the snowbirds and travellers, they could be swamped really fast. I am getting one to replace YAK for outbound, and then hopefully for inbound while we are in Mexico next winter (or maybe winter 2010). At least i know it will work for outbound in both places. In fact there are so many people here in PV with Vonage that I can even avoid the measured service extra charges on our local phone bill here in PV by calling their vonage numbers instead (100 calls a month then extra charges).
For the fun of it....Keith
I have to echo what Steve says - I'm in BC, and I use MagicJack for all my long-distance calls. Family/friends know that they can call my MJ number and let it ring twice, and if I'm available I'll call right back, or as soon as I'm able. Hasn't been a problem! It will be nice when Canadian numbers are available, but I'm in a city on Vancouver Island, and its hardly a big place, so when Canadian start being released no doubt they'll focus on the big cities first. I can wait, a little bit of runaround in return for free long distance is a small price to pay!
