Error 404

Post by alanc »

Newbie here,

With no changes whatsoever to my WIN7 machine, I suddenly am getting error code 404 "connect to the internet and click here" when I plug in my MJ. The MJ has worked flawlessly for a year until yesterday. I did the live chat thing with MJ where they walked me through allowing MJ on my firewall (no change was needed because it was already an exception). I also re-ran the W7 upgrade.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Had you taken time to search this forum you MIGHT have seen this:

It might/might not fix your problem..
If not, do the basics, use a REAR usb port on your PC sans the short extension cable which came with your MJ.
I "assume" you added Magicjack.exe to your firewall as a trust app.

Just a few things for you to try.

Thanks Joe for the prompt reply.

I tried all of the tips mentioned in your post and the linked thread, unfortunately the problem persists.

It may be a port issue through your router. I have seen mixed information on this based on the individual router used. Or, just for a quick test, DMZ the whole machine through the router and see if that solves the problem (but don't leave it in DMZ). If it does work in DMZ, then you have some adjusting to do with opening or forwarding ports.
