Cannot Dial with Cordless phone
I have purchased a new cordless phone and I cannot dial with it. When I pick up the cordless phone I can hear a dialtone but when I dial the dial tone persists. I can call out with a corded phone and with an older cordless phone.
Here is what I have done so far.
1. I have upgraded to the new software.
2. I am not using the little usb cable, the magic jack is plugged into the back of my computer.
3. I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled it.
4. I have installed the magic jack software on a windows xp professional computer (the computer it is running on is windows 7 64 bit)
5. I have tested the cordless phone using a POTs line and it does work.
The reason I bought this phone is because it is a DECT 6.0.
The model of the phone is a Uniden DECT 1480-3.
I have chatted with magicjacks poor support for at least 3 hours and they have not resolved the issue. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
I have checked the forums and found a few simular postings but no solutions.

Re: Cannot Dial with Cordless phone
Well since the MJ works with two other phones but NOT with the Uniden, it tells me the problem is with the Uniden and MJ, duh...03gtcruiser wrote:I have purchased a new cordless phone and I cannot dial with it. Either the Uniden is internally wired wrong, and the MJ is not forgiving of it ( red and green reversed) OR it is just not compatable with the MJ. I would return the Uniden and either replace it with the same model and see what happens, or go with another DECT 6 phone ( Panasonic). I have used a Uniden on my MJ and it worked just fine, but I am currently using a Motorola 5.8ghz...

I do not think it is a problem with the phone, since I have hooked the phone to a pots line and the phone works fine (see number 5 of the things I have done). Also since my posting I have hoooked the phone to a neighbors verizon VOIP system and the phone works fine.Well since the MJ works with two other phones but NOT with the Uniden, it tells me the problem is with the Uniden and MJ, duh...
I would like to reserve returning the phone as a last restort since the phone has the feature set that I am looking for at the price point that I would like to pay. Before resorting to this I would like to see if anyone else has had this issue and if they resolved it.
I hope it is not an incompatibility issue. Especially since MJ states that it works with any home phone.

MagicJack says a lot of things. Hopefully you don't still believe in Santa Claus either.03gtcruiser wrote: Especially since MJ states that it works with any home phone.
I personally had a problem that after a day and a half was resolved ONLY by switching out a phone. It was an older phone, but it was a home phone nonetheless.

Do you know anyone with a MJ you can try your Uniden on?03gtcruiser wrote:I do not think it is a problem with the phone, since I have hooked the phone to a pots line and the phone works fine (see number 5 of the things I have done). Don't forget the MJ is NOT P.O.T.S. so it COULD be an incompatibilty issue with the MJ since you say it works just fine on a neighbors VOIP. That is why I said it could be the phone ( and yes I read #5 of your orig post) and your MJ ( not pots)
I know in the past a LOT of people had problems with MJ caller ID and Panasonic cordless phones. So it is not out of the realm of possibility
the Uniden has its own issue. Again this is all guessing on my part...

HA!!!
Nah its the people who post their WHOLE customer support chat that makes me glaze over. Especially the ones who curse them out and wonder why they get disconnected!!!
Nope don't shut up as I said, we have to have fun on here as well as trying to help people.
Of course we will, from time to time, get people who have NO sense of humor or sense of anything for that matter

All phones are not equal! I have a Panasonic cordless that worked wonderful on my verizon POTS line for years until they "upgraded" my voice line to fiber (when FiOS was installed). Nothing but problems after that - mainly echo on the line. When I complained about echo, the first thing the Verizon tech asked me was if I had a Panasonic phone! So just because your Dect 6.0 phone works on the POTS line doesn't mean that its a problem with MJ. Some manufacturers are closer to the interconnect specs than others resulting in problems depending on the type of line they are connected to. Return your phone(s) and try another brand.

I was able to get the phone to work.
A friend brought over his MJ, and to my surprise the phone worked with his MJ. After digging around I found that with my version of the MJ the polarity is reversed and that with his it was not.

I took my phone line that runs between the MJ and the phone and created a straight through cable. So pins 2 and 3 match on both sides. Phone works great.
This also fixed a few other issues, with my corded phone there was a slight buzz, and I also had to dial very slowly, both of these issues were fixed with the cable.
I hope this will help someone else out.
