MJ, erroneously puts people on hold, hangs up, crashes, etc.

Post by PoorMan »

I was hoping if I could get a pre-release of the magic Jack plus. If
not I was hoping that you could help get my magic Jack working right.
I’ve called contacted magic Jack support dozens of times just in the
last year, yet I’m still having frequent chronic and severe problems
with my magic Jack.

The following is the opening information I gave the last time I tried to
contact technical support at magic Jack; yet again the problems were not
resolved.
=====
I’ve been having problems with my magic Jack program; erroneously
hanging up on people, erroneously putting people on hold, and the
program crashing. The typical mode of failure, is first typically the
magic Jack erroneously puts the call on hold, then typically a few
seconds later the magic Jack erroneously hangs up on the caller, then
typically a few seconds later the magic Jack program crashes, then
typically a few seconds later I then get a pop-up warning from my
computer: program compatibility assistant, this program might not have
been installed correctly, try reinstalling using the settings that are
compatible with this version of Windows, program; unknown program,
unknown publisher, location X:/AutoRun.exe. Then typically a few seconds
later, I then get another pop-up warning from my computer stating that I
have both firewalls turned off.

Also frequently the blue light on the magic Jack goes out, and I get a
message from my computer stating that the USB device has failed. Then
often the magic Jack opens my browser to the magic Jack website with the
resource hog auto play video commercial.

Also sometimes when I boot the magic Jack light goes out shortly after
the boot, and despite the fact that the magic Jack is connected to the
USB the magic Jack start up menu says that the magic Jack has to be
plugged into the USB to run magic Jack. Then instead of starting the
magic Jack program, it pops up a magic TALK pop-up asking for
registration, and starts the magic TALK program. Then often the magic
Jack opens my browser to the magic Jack website with the resource hog
auto play video commercial.

I’ve had this device for over a year, and it never has worked properly.
I would like the problems resolved.

When magic Jack technicians tell me to change Internet Protocol Version
4(TCP/IPv4), typically shortly afterwards my Explorer and Firefox
browsers will lose their Internet connection. Often I have to reboot
several times or use system restore to get my browsers to work right
again.

I’ve added the following to my trusted websites.
https://my.magicjack.com
https://reg.talk4free.com

Linksys BEFW11s4 Firmware version 1.52.06
http://XXXXXXX (censored)
I have two ports designated for magic Jack under ports forwarded, Named
"MJ1" ports 5060 5070...DMZ Host enabled.

Despite apparently disabling the software and hardware the magic Jack
continues to malfunction. Despite adding the magic Jack website
addresses to trusted websites; the magic Jack program continues to
malfunction. Despite removing software that had alleged possible
conflicts with magic Jack; the magic Jack program continues to
malfunction. Despite having a different computer and a different version
of operational software; the magic Jack continues to malfunction. I’ve
had magic Jack technicians try to tell me to use different USB ports;
despite trying all the different USB ports, the magic Jack continues to
malfunction. I’ve even had magic Jack technicians tell me to try to use
a powered USB hub; yet the magic Jack continues to malfunction even when
using a powered USB hub. I’ve had magic Jack technicians tell me to use
or not to use a USB extension cord; the magic Jack continues to
malfunction whether or not a USB extension is used. I’ve even tried several
different types of USB cords, heavy-duty and/or long.

The magic Jack program has been uninstalled several times with a fresh install.
The Microsoft fix programs has been run several times. The USB scrubber has
been run several times. As well as many other things that have been recommended
by magic Jack support… Yet my magic Jack still does not work for more than a
few minutes at a time during a call without having problems.

The diagnostic trees that magic Jack technicians are using; often
doesn’t quite match my version of Windows, or my version of router
firmware. Regretfully for some reason or another, it seems I often get
disconnected from magic Jack technicians. Sometimes the settings that
are changed, affects the connections. Sometimes during the use of remote
assistance, it acts like a control or alt button is depressed by the
magic Jack technician, because when they asked me to respond; when I try
to type strange things start happening, like browsers and chat windows
close. Ect…

(I'm running Windows 7 64-bit)
I've had these problems on several different computers, 2 different versions of Windows (Windows Vista and Windows 7)
=======

Is there a chance I might be able to get a pre-release of the magic Jack
plus; so hopefully I won’t have to continue with all these problems? I’m
hoping that the magic Jack plus is reliable and doesn’t have all these
issues.

There is no one here associated with MagicJack or MagicJack Plus at all. If you are looking for a pre-release you will have to contact them directly. And good luck with that.
