magic Jack and speakers versus handset

I used to be able to have a radio coming through my speakers and use the magic Jack handset without turning off the speakers, having a radio station playing in the background while I spoke on the telephone handset. Now I am no longer able to do that and am forced to entirely kill the speakers while using the telephone otherwise I get a feedback loop between the handset microphone and the computer speakers. I want to be able to entirely sever the relationship between the handset and the speakers. How do I do that?

Does it strike anyone else as rather strange that magic Jack tech support cannot be reached by telephone only by chat. I guess they are having problems with their magic Jack…
