MJ doesn't work when accessing Internet through PROXY SERVER

Post by MJUserInIndia »

I recently brought MagicJack to India with me and it works fine when I use a mobile broadband to connect to the net. However, when I am on a university network, where I connect through a proxy server, I get a "Please connect to the internet and click here [error 3]" message.

I tried what MagicFix recommends to no avail, which is allowing MagicJack as an exception in Windows and Avira firewalls. I suspect that firewalls are not the issue, because it works fine on the other ISP (mobile broadband).

Please help!!!

The University's network is probably blocking the ports needed by mJ. Since it works other places that is my best guess. Might work if you can set up a VPN to use when on the University network, then again it might not. ;)

Thanks, Kif. Is there some references on how to unblock these? MagiJack website says that 5060 and 5070 UDP should be open. I have no idea what these are and how to unblock them. Trying to find instructions to unblock these on Google did not help.

Thanks again.

Unless you are a sysadmin at your University you won't be able to change those setting on their network. As I said before, setting up a VPN (Virtual Private Network) might allow you to make and receive calls when on the University network.
