dropped calls

I changed the MagicJack to a hard wired phone from the portable phone & it still drops calls. I guess it was a BIG mistake to pre-pay for 5 years when I can't use the phone at all. I have not given anyone the number, we just use it to call out. I call out & in about 30 seconds it disconnects the call. I guess these phones are okay for those who are programmers, but not for the ordinary person who does not know how to do programming. I thought I would buy it, connect it & use it...simple...NOT.

Did you try the basic suggestions that have been posted throughout this forum?? For one, if you are using the short extension cord which came with the MJ, dont as it may cause strange problems. Also use a rear USB port ( if you are using a desktop of course) as it does make a difference.
Have you tried your MJ on another PC to see if the problem is still happening? If it follows your MJ dongle then you MIGHT have a bad MJ and need to have it replaced. If the problem goes away then you have somthing on your PC your MJ does not like, hardware or software ( or it doesn't like your ISP).
You may also want to try a POWERED usb hub.

What type of router do you have? Some routers do not play well with voip and cause problems like this.

Try some set up on this link http://portforward.com/ open those 5060 & 5070 UDP ports for magicjack.
