Majic Jack works well enough for me

Post by Mollyinbc »

It is not perfect by any means but it works for my home phone. I have a cellphone as well and just do not want to spend the money for a land line. I would just have a cell phone but where I live I cannot recieve cell phone reception. The majic Jack works as my home phone.

Mollyinbc... I believe there are many here on the forum that share your positive experience. I was one of the early adopters and had great fun with my Magic Jack from day one.

I originally bought it 1.) out of curiosity and 2.) to use for sitting in on webinars without racking up minutes on my cell phone and land line. The bonus was I quickly learned on this forum I could *spoof* my outgoing CID. Although I have no real reason to spoof my number, I just thought it was kewl to be able to do. It's been a while but there were some other fun things as well, and I even wrote a few perl scripts. These features quickly disappeared after a few "Lucky You" upgrades.

Unfortunately, although I was able to use them for webinars as originally intended, both my Magic Jack's never worked adequately as a replacement for my traditional service. Eventually, I let both subscriptions expire this year.

For you and those for whom it works well, I am truly happy. it's been a fun learning experience. FWIW, my primary VoIP services are ooma and Skype and I still have an active subscription with Sipgate.

Enjoy!

I bought MJ in 2008 and I'm never going back to those ripoff landline companies. rather pay $1.60 a month than $60 a month
