Charter phone "secure line and MagicJack is not"

Post by nighthawks »

I was told that someone could listen to your conversation on a MJ service.

Charter keeps bugging me on great deals with there phone service. They called it a secure line and MJ is not.

I asked them it still goes over the internet, but they said it would have it's own modem and it's secured.

When I told them I run it from a thin client, they changed there tune some.

I look at it this way, if someone wants to hack and has the "right stuff" they will, if someone wants to listen to mine and my wife's conversation over MJ phone they will be bored.

Do any think it's a "Scare Tactic" ?

My guess would be that they are possibly using a VPN connection to their voip servers which is encrypted and yes it can be more secure.
