Aspire One 722 won't post (start) if MJ is connected in USB

Post by gotoluc »

Hi,

I just bought a new Aspire One 722 and if MJ is connected in the USB port the Notebook won't even Post (start before windows)

I brought it back to the store and a qualified tech tried it on another one and the same thing happens (nothing). Unplug it and it starts fine.

The tech says it must be an issue with MJ an the Aspire One 722 chipset.

If I start the notebook without MJ connected and connect it after windows 7 is booted it loads the software and works but if you select headset it crashes.

Is there a firmware update or something?

Thanks for you help

Make sure in the BIOS ( CMOS) you do not have boot from USB enabled. Drove me crazy once till I figured that little one out. My MB had reset and enabled that setting and my PC did not like it when the MJ was plugged in. As soon as I disabled it, I had no problems for over 3 years..

Thanks for the reply

I tried before to do as you suggest since the notebook was new I brought to the store and that's the first thing their top tech tried to change in the bios and it still did not boot to windows. He did more tests with other notebooks to compare and concluded it was a hardware issue between MJ and the chipset the Aspire One 722 (AMD processor) uses since it was the only model that MJ kept the computer to boot into windows.

Today I spent over 5 hours on MJ chat and no one there could fix it. However, they never seem to listen to me telling them this is a hardware issue. They had me do all kinds of things in Windows since I can connect MJ after Windows 7 is up and running but the application crashes if you select headset and dial a number. And for sure no matter what they would do on the software side (in Windows 7) it would never fix the non booting issue.

MJ would need to have a firmware update to fix this issue

Thanks for your post
