MagicJack call quality using thin client

Post by gfengle »

Often, the call quality using MagicJack connected to my PC is poor. The talk is garbled and echos. Sometimes there is no problem. When connecting to a thin client, is any improvement in the call quality experienced? [/b]

hi that wold depend on a few things

1. do u have a good hi speed net
2. how fast is your PC "ram- "
3. what other then MJ are you doing when you making a call

if your net is slow then it wold not improve the MJ call
but if you do have good hi speed then it could just be a lot of stuff is taking up your PC time and ram so a thin client wold make your MJ work good

hope this helps
have a good one

Tell us more details about the pc you're running MJ on. Also, as Scotty suggested, if you don't have fairly speedy internet service, you'll get the symptoms you describe....but, typically it would be all the time, not intermittent as you described.

So, about your pc, what kind of processor, clock speed, RAM size and speed, FSB speed, are you filling up the RAM so that the machine has to use your hard drive as virtual RAM....the list can go on forever.

Orrrrrrrrrr, it could be that the server MJ has you connected is overcrowded which would ALSO cause the symptoms you're experiencing. If that's the case, you're gonna have to deal with the MJ tech support.......my heart goes out to you if you have to do that.

Hi gfengle,
If you're not using a wired phone, do so and see if the call quality improves.
Some users have also experienced improved call quality by using a powered USB hub.
