My majicjack is no long working

Post by puterluver »

If you read my previous post entitled Problem All Day you can see my MJ is gone. Nobody can help me get it working. The Chat guys who supposedly know how to fix it, failed many times.

Yesterday I purchased a new one. My question now is:

Can I register this new one on my existing account, which I prepaid 5 years of service?

Thanks for any help.

Please clarify. When I purchased my first MJ, I had to pay 19.95 for the first year. This one I have not purchased my first year.

There is no doubt that they will add the new device to your account and you will be able to use your old number on the new device.

I could be wrong but I don't think anyone has reported actually trying to transfer more than a year from an old device to a new one. It has come up, but was either not allowed or the person didn't try, or they just didn't post what happened either way. So you could be a test case.

If I was you, I would not try to register the device until I received an answer from chat support. I would make it clear that the device was dead and ask them what options you have if you bought a new one. I wouldn't tell them I had already bought a replacement. If they tell you that you only get a year on the new device, you might want to return your new MJ and try a different system. If they tell you that you get to transfer the unused time, I would save the chat, and then get back on there a short time later and have them register it for you and transfer the time. Either way it would be helpful if you post back what they tell you.

I will get on chat and tell them my kid has this issue and see what they say just to see if they are consistent.

They just told me on chat that if I bought a replacement at BestBuy I would get the 3 years transferred. They did say you need to do it through customer service to get it done correctly. That story could change with a different CS chatter, but it makes sense. I would tell them the old one physically broke, your dog knocked it off or something, otherwise they may keep trying to diagnose the old one.
