Can't access magicjack.com?

Post by dant98 »

I'm new here, but I didn't find this answer right away and thought I would share.

I used the old magic jack in the past on a laptop of mine, but it's been months. I recently bought the MJ+ and thought I'd set it up and give it a go. Well on my Windows 7 system I couldn't access magicjack.com and subsequently couldn't setup the mj+. I was worried my ISP had finally gone off the deep end and decided to block them and I was all ready to give them an ear full, but then I found this fix that seems totally out of the blue.

Apparently if you have the realtec GB Ethernet PCIe card (mine is onboard), then MS supplied a driver update that apparently breaks access to Magicjack.com. To fit it, you have to go into your device manager and tell windows to rollback the new driver to the previous version.

For me it worked instantly. Now I'm all set with the MJ+ attached directly to my network. I think my Vonage PAP2 device may be headed toward the end of it's useful life.

Hope this helps somebody else.

Thank you for your post, hopefully others will search first and find it. Not likely, but thank you none the less for helping.

The rollback of Realtech PCI driver worked instantly. Thank you for the post. I used Devise Manager and I can now access my account information. I am hopeful about using this but it sure seems buggy. With all the money they've made, you'd think they would have made the use of their devise much more user friendly. Why do we have to work so hard at this?
