Local calls can't get through to me

Local calls can't get through to me
I receive many calls but not from local prefixes. I can call any number just fine. An engineer suggested this is a porting issue in that the number was not ported completely. I can't get anywhere with the local carrier (my previous carrier). I have contacted MJ many times and always the same run around and being told that the engineers will email me. Well, it's three weeks now and I have to get this fixed. If I can't get an answer here, I will try another phone carrier.
Can't receive calls
I'm having the same issue. I can call out and receive cell calls fine but if a landline user tries to call it says my # doesn't exist. The engineers are supposed to email me but haven't. I'm about ready to give up and return it.
Same Issue - Local Calls won't come through
I have the same issue. All 3 of my kids schools which are less than a mile away and have the same area code but different prefixes, cannot get through to my home phone magic jack plus line now. When this same number was a Charter cable number they could call me fine, but now that my number is through Magic Jack, they cannot. Pretty scary to know that when your child is sick or hurt and needs a parent that they can't call me. So, I had to go into all 3 schools and delete that number and put my cell phone as my main number and relatives as emergency. That really sucks. And yes, I also tried dialing my home while standing in the office with their phone just to hear what they are hearing, and they get some crazy message like "the number you are trying to reach is a long distance call and not in your area" It worked fine before switching, so is not the schools line, it is mine. Not to mention the other issues I have with my magic jack having to be manually powered off and back on twice a day to work and the fact that my mother called and started to leave me a message, got a bunch of beeps then my magic jack started playing my messages for her instead! What a horrible experience. I will NOT renew after this year.

Are they dialing the Area Code first?DBarrett wrote:I have the same issue.
