What can cause inbound calls to fail from one minute to the next, and fail on one type of phone and not another type?
Here's what's happening:
-set up MJ+ on my second land line (not my main land line).
-outbound calls have been working fine since setup 1 week ago
-got email from MJ+ yesterday the number transfer was complete. There is no longer a dial tone from my Verizon phone jack for my second line.
-today called from my office to test inbound calls- phone #1 worked during the day but will not work now that I'm home in the evening calling from my main land line. I don't hear any ring at all. This is a 10+ year old combination phone and fax machine.
-swapped in phone #2 - an old AT&T "Princess" style phone. Inbound calls work every time.
-swapped in phone #3 - a new Panasonic cordless DECT 6.0. I'm using the phone base. This evening I tried calling over a 15 minute period so far. The first few calls went right through. Then I tried several minutes later- calls didn't go through. I heard no ringing. Tried a few minutes later- the call went through.
I'm really perplexed about this, particularly the Panasonic working one minute, then not the next. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
more tech info:
-I live in NYC, using stand stand alone set up, hard wired into a Netgear WiFi Extender. ISP is Time Warner Cable.
-the yellow phone light on the MJ+ blinks frequently, the green internet light blinks intermittently.
Why do my inbound calls fail at some times but not others?

inbound caller cannot be heard, but can hear us, HELP!
I too am interested in solutions to this. We can make outgoing calls just fine, but inbound calls are sketchy, working sometimes and not others. Usually the inbound caller cannot be heard, so we answer the phone, "Hello" and hear nothing. Later when I talk to the person they say they could hear me just fine, but I must not have been able to hear them. Since they can hear me, I have been saying "Call us on one of our cell phones, we are having trouble with this line", but that is a crappy way to communicate! Once I had a MJ+ support person who told me some settings to change to make the calls have priority over all other uses of bandwidth. I don't have the instructions and the tech I called today didn't even understand what I was asking for! If I ever hear the instructions again, will WRITE THEM DOWN!! I am so tired of technology costing me money and time and frustration instead of just working as advertized!!

Re: Why do my inbound calls fail at some times but not other
- An idea: IF you've cancelled your old, "regular" landline service and IF you've got your MJ+ connected to your house wiring (instead of directly to a phone), the problem *could* be with your house phone wiring - ESPECIALLY if you haven't physically disconnected the house wiring from the old company's line(s) coming into your home (which you should do if this is the way you're using your MJ+).drivers93 wrote:What can cause inbound calls to fail from one minute to the next, and fail on one type of phone and not another type?
