Unable to get unavailable message to generate

I want to leave my own unavailable message. I press * key when I call Voicemail and the automated voice answers, but it doesn't give me the option to set up my voicemail. Instead MJ answers saying the MJ customer you have called is unavailable... I don't want that message used!
