getting set up..

Post by Doobles »

Just got my Magic Jack set up today... Here are the problems I have.

1.. When I try to set up voicemail for the first time, I enter the * key on my phone. I get a recording saying I have reached the WIMAX communications test number this call has been successful.. then hangs up... . Magicjack Support tells me my number is not fully set up yet and might take a few hours. It has been about 3 hours.. so maybe that might be true.

2.. Grand Central will not yet forward to the Magic Jack number.. BUT.. I can receive other calls just fine.

YMAX is the parent company of magicJack. Did you enter *1234 or just *?

I have tried both... Whenever I hit the * key on my phone I get that test message. When I use *1234 I get a recording saying in order to complete this call.. I must dial the area code and the phone number.. Can you block caller ID with *67? that doesn't seem to work..

The correct way to set up your voicemail is to dial your MJ number first, when the call is answered (by automatic voice response system) you press *1234, then follow the voice prompt to set up your VM box.

*67/*82 are not currently supported. The MJ call server will ignore those codes for now.

Got everything working fine.. I have voicemail.. Grand Central now works.. Sound quality is excellent!!! I think I am sold on the 30 day trial.. I just talked to a friend for about 45 minutes and I was trying to make the connection fail by opening up you tube windows, doing speed tests, downloading and uploading large files.. On my connection I almost have to try to bog down the connection on purpose to make Magic Jack's connection fail.

Doobles,

Glad you got it going. What did you finally have to do to make it work?

Now lets have a little mono-e-mono about people that go looking for ways to make MJ fail. The rest of the forum is trying to fix one thing or another and you are out there trying to break something. I'll bet you even look "Gift horses in the mouth".
