There needs to be a 'rule' about cursing?kumar wrote: yea thats my point lol....since they edited me i think there should be a rule stating that you can't cures....otherwise technically they are wrongfully editing my posts if you get wat i mean....

COmmon sense should tell you that cursing is never acceptable in a public forum. Think of it this way... when posting say to yourself "would I use these words were I to be talking to my parents or grandparents?" My guess is you would not and if that is the case then give those of us in this forum the same respect!!!
This may come as a shock to you but this is NOT a teen hangout. If you want to hang out with adults and participate in discussions, conduct yourself accordingly. If you want to curse and act like a 13-yr old then go find a forum of your peers!BTW foul language....not english....online us teens dont give abt englishif that would be a rule....magichack would go crazy editing my posts

you never my grandpa! almost 30 yrs in the military and every other word was f* this or that...

when i joined the military, the first thing my mom was worried about was my mouth going foul!

Ever see the movie A Christmas Story ? I love the part when the dad changes the tire and "weaves a blanket of obscenities still floating above..." Love that movie!
But you're right, a public forum is no place to foul language. Understandably when people are having troubles with MJ it's bound to happen. Mods just need to simply edit the post, warn the member and move on. If the member continues, then there's a problem.

How about a rule where you must search for your problem first on the forum instead of asking for help on a problem that already has a post. Because as magicjack gets more popular there will be more people joining the forum asking the same question over and over and this will get very confusing and will make it difficult to try and fix new problems that will come up. This site is more popular than magicjack.com for tech help.
help! I am running out of USB ports!!!!!!!!

I doubt there is anyway to make people use the search function or rummage thru the site before they ask their question. For a couple of groups I am on I keep a file on my desktop with the standard answers to the most asked questions along with a link to where they can go for more information. I then just copy and paste it.

My profession happens to be helping large companies and government agencies to organize knowledge and find the information that they are looking for. So perhaps I can help.
I agree that it is desirable to get people to search before posting. While we may not want to force people to do so, we can steer them toward that behavior through design of the UI. For example, we could make the Search box much more prominent, both in terms of its placement in the screen (e.g. large and centered) and its forward placement in the user workflow (e.g. Search is the first thing we see, while posting requires one or two additional clicks). We could even take it a step further by having a search box pop up before anyone goes to the new post function.
One of my frustrations with forums like this, and this one seems better than most I have visited, is that questions and answers on the same subject get spread across many different threads. Therefore, I suggest a different principle of organizing information here: Have a virtual editorial board limit the number of subjects to which people could post. These subjects should be broad, but not too broad, functional and persistent. Here are some examples, not necessarily in the optimal order or hierarchical organization:
Initial installation
Upgrades
Vista-specific issues
Outlook integration
Audio quality
Complete failures
-dropped calls
-failure to connect
-failure to load
Suggestions for new features and functions
Bug reports and resolutions
Phone number availability
ISP, bandwidth and Internet connection specific problems
Then, if someone want to post a NEW subject, there can be a special forum for such requests. And the user is either re-directed to an existing subject, their post is moved to an existing subject (with notice), or a new subject is indeed created (with notice). What do you think?

I always thought this discussion was "Unofficial MagicJack Forum Rules!", a statement. After reading the filth spewed by John D Wentzky, I realize that there must be some rules else chaos will indeed rule.

I really don't know. You see, when I was born no one knew who the mother was. There is someone that I have always thought of as my sister, would you like me to put you in touch with him?norml jack wrote:Mufon, do you have a sister?
