hey all..... i have a wierd one here, and the chat guys are clueless.
i am a brand new magic jack user, and was given a phone number at the time of registration. i was snooping around on mj's web site, and saw i could change the phone number 1 time for free. i clicked on the link to see what number i would be given thinking i would have a secondary confirmation link. something like "click here to submit change" or, "are you sure you want to change"? anyways, i tried closing out the window and did not continue with the change.
now, my original phone number works when i dial my jack, but a different number appears when i call out. i can dial either number, and my jack will ring, but it will only show the new number when i dial out.
i have tried repeatedly to get the chat support guys to re-assign my original number (don't like this new number) but they are about useless. they keep saying they will escalate this, and i will get an email shortly. that was 2 weeks ago, and no reply.
any suggestions?

If you received a new number that means you did pick a number... end of story.kjsounds wrote:i did originally try and see what other numbers were available to choose from. but i did not intend on changing my number. anyways, it sounds like you are thinking that my original number will still work for 30 days right?
is there anyway to undo this, and keep my old number?
thanks
Yes, pay $10 bucks for the old one if it is still available.
Hi. I am in the same boat on this one. I got my magicjack mid last year & ended up with a vegas # when I wanted socal #. When socal #s became available, they didn't have one in 805, so I picked 310. Mjack hasn't been much use to me with that #, so I haven't logged in for a long time. When I did log in today, I saw that 805 might be available. I just wanted to check what #s were available, but the program just assigned one once you select the prefix. Most other portals I go to have confirmation as the last step, but not these guys. As luck would have it, I spent hundreds of $ to make a sign with the 310 #. So, I panicked when the number changed & I got on support chat. The bottomline, no way to change back. Even if I paid them, I still may or may not get the old # back. If I bought another mjack, they still couldn't associate the old number with the new device. Geez! You would think someone would know how to make manual changes. Can't be anything more than tying the device id with the desired # in the db record. Anyhow, I am searching for Dan's email address because if he isn't aware of this portal behavior, he should be. He has a yahoo address he emailed me from last year, but I can't seem to find it now.
gooney, it doesn't look like paying $10 will bring the old # back. Unless, of course, you know something the level 1 support guy didn't. Care to share?
TIA
