I finally got my majicjack to receive incoming calls

Post by beejamm »

I never could receive incoming calls on my majicjack phone. I 've chatted with the support team on numerous occasions, and followed all of the fix it advice they gave, but with negative results. So, I accept that fact because for $20.00 a year I still can make all the calls I wanted. However, I decided that mabe if I change to a new local area code and receive a new number, maybe the incoming calls might work. That's what I did. Now I can receive incoming calls and set up my voice mail. Now I can say that I am completely satisfied with my majic jack as a fomer Vonage customer. So if you can't recive incoming calls, try changing to another locall area code. Why the old number did not work? I have no idea. Good luck.

Can't access voice mail or receive calls

Post by Opus »

I also cannot access my voice mail or receive incoming calls. I have spents hours chatting with the MJ support people.
What were the symptoms you had?
If I try to access voicemail, I just get 3 busy tones and then it hangs up. This happens with either Softphone or a connected phone.
If someone tries to call me, they either get a busy signal or a message that the call cannot be completed as dialed.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

I am having the same problem. I changed from a 210 area code to my local area code 915 Now I can't receive any local calls. I get a tone and a message saying that they can't complete my call at this time. I have no problem receiving calls out side my area code. I too have spent hours with mj tech support. They have me do the same thing over and over again.

Can't access voice mail or receive calls

I just initially set my MJ up with the local area code and the prefix closest to my home.
But I can't receive any calls either inside or outside my area code.

When someone tries to call, what do they hear? Does the softphone pop up?

The call either gets a busy signal or a message stating that the call could not be completed as dialed.
The Softphone doesn't give any indication that a call is coming in, nothing in the call log. I tried to tell tech support that this must be a server side problem, since at least voicemail should answer, but was ignored.

The other part of this is that I cannot access voicemail either. I just get 3 busy tones then it hangs up.

This is a server side problem; I can't call any 425-493-xxxx numbers from either MJ or another service; on the MJ line I get a 404 error. I'm surprised that more folks haven't complained.

I was able to dial 425-493-xxxx, and spoke to the confused man for a couple minutes before deciding he was a lost cause...

I'm using the 64.0.147.6, or Los Angeles proxy.

Incoming calls are now working!

Post by Opus »

I was sitting at my PC when the phone rang! Previously, I could not get any incoming calls.
However, I could not hear the person calling :( . I then tried calling out and again silence. I checked the PC audio and it was fine. So I went back to other things and tried it several hours later. Suddenly, everything was working! I oculd access voicemail, I could make and receive calls! Since I hadn't done anything, there must have been work done on the server side.

Today when I tried an outgoing call, the audio was very choppy. I rebooted my PC, no help. I unplugged MJ and replugged, no help. I then ran magicFix and the upgrade and it was great! Does anyone know what magicFix and the upgrade actually do?
