No audio in outgoing calls.

Post by currency »

Hi,

I tried installing the magic Jack on a Vista. The installation was successful. I called calling the magic jack number from my mobile and it was absolutely fine.

Next I tried calling my mobile from my magic jack, the mobile rang and I picked up the call, however there was no sound on either side after that. Even when the mobile was ringing I did not hear any ringing tone on the magic jack side.

I am clueless because this happens only in case of Outgoing but the incoming works fine.

Please help me!

Are you on the corporate LAN? If so, possibly a firewall issue.

Working from home with a VPN? If so, see if taking the VPN down helps.

Otherwise, see this thread http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/cann ... t1759.html . His problem is not yet resolved, but try the tests / workarounds suggested.

With the help of you guys(Stewart) and the Tech support from Magic jack I have now fixed my issue. My issue was exactly the same as yours, no audio in outgoing.

These are the things I did.
1) In Reg edit, gave full control to the USB and USB STOR for everyone.
2) Turned of Anti Virus (At this stage I was able to hear but the person at the other end was getting their own echo).
3) Now I installed divx player from www.divx.com
4) Ran the magic fix from this link www.magicjacktv.com/1/magicfix.asp (The agent claimed this is different than the one available in the usual website).
5) Unplugged it and plugged it into a different port.

There it was! It is now working fine.

Thanks Once again for your time and efforts stewart!

Sound and Virtualbox

Post by djg5211 »

Hello...

This is similar to the situation i am experiencing except i am adding a twist to the mix...

I have Virtualbox with Windows XP Home Edition installed and it runs under
Windows XP Home Edition (ie: like running 2 seperate windows systems)
I am attempting to run Magicjack in the Virtualbox. So far here is what happens:

Magicjack installs into the Virtualbox XP just fine. When a call comes in the phone
rings but when answered... NO SOUND

When making an outgoing call you have dial tone and it will dial out but you
do not hear it dial. However, it does make the phone ring that you are calling
but same scenario as inbound calls... NO SOUND

If i use it NORMALLY on my system it works great without a hitch. This ONLY
happens when it is running in the Virtualbox.

I KNOW this isn't a Virtualbox thread and someone is bound to say
''GO TO A VIRTUALBOX FORUM'' but, they don't know Magicjack
from shineola and since the symptoms here were so similar
(if you exclude the Virtualbox) thought perhaps someone could
help narrow this down to what the cause might be.

By the way, what in the heck would a Divxx program have to do with
the sound on a magicjack? Does it install some special codec or
something?

Thanks In Advance For Thoughts or Ideas!

In Device Manager, under Sound ..., you should see a USB Internet Phone by Tiger Jet. If this does not appear, or is not shown as 'working properly', you'll have to find out why not. Sorry, I can't help with that, but the MJ looks to Windows like a USB sound card; it does not depend on any audio drivers other than Microsoft's.

If the device is shown as working ok, see if the Audio Test in this diagnostic http://tjnet.com/software/download/voip ... up1313.exe works ok. (Kill the MJ app with Task Manager before starting the test. Make sure that the test screen doesn't show anything muted, and that the volume sliders are not too low.)

You should be able to compare the native and Virtualbox cases to see what is not normal.

If the above does not help, you probably will have to go to a Virtualbox forum -- mention that your failing device is essentially a USB sound card.
