softjoys.com ?

Post by MagicJacked »

I noticed the MJ software is accessing these 2 DNS names:
mls.softjoys.com
labs.softjoys.com

I see them in the named(DNS) logs when I start MJ.

Does anyone know why?
I don't see those addresses being accessed, just resolved. I am using fiddler2, so the access could be non-http and I would not see it.

Is it ok to block them?

Thanks.

Well the software used by MJ is SJPhone, a well-known free SoftPhone that was apparently purchased by YMax....

labs.softjoys.com also links to one such page related to SJPhone, I assume it is either checking for software updates, or grabbing its licensing file for the software from that server...probably not a good idea blocking it...

At startup, MJ opens a TCP connection to mls.softjoys.com:5002, uploads one packet, gets a short response, closes the connection.

The uploaded content contains the string "ActiveProfiles". The rest may be encrypted, or simply in a format I don't understand.

Ok, won't block it. Thanks, both of you.
It could be evil, uploading something personal for profiling me.
