Can't access T5700 admin even after battery removal.

Post by lymon »

Boots up nicely into some user account, but can not log on as administrator/administrator even after removing battery for 30 minutes.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

You are thinking of a different admin. Removing the battery removes the administrator password in the BIOS (F10 when you boot). The administrator login you want is inside of Windows. Once logged in, press and hold the shift key (and don't let go). Click the start button and choose log out. Once you are to the login screen, you can let go of the shift key and log in as the administrator.

Look at the link in my signature in the OS section for instructions by Vaham to make it log into windows automatically as admin always.

The windows admin login (left shift etc.) is the one that I was erroneously trying to reset by removing the battery, of course, no dice.

So, I guess I'm out of luck until my Transcend GB flash DOM arrives since I can't find a rev of XPe on the HP web site that will even fit on my current 192MB flash. Here I'm assuming that the only way to log on as the windows admin at this point is to re-flash the XPe, correct??

If you are using the image that came with your thin client, it might be locked down to prevent the admin login. Reflashing would put it back to the stock settings.
