Screech

Post by sligg »

I'm using a Uniden Dect 6.0 phone.

Incoming and outgoing calls: In the course of a conversation I get a sporadic burst of sound over the phone that sounds like a screech that lasts about a second.

Anyone experience this? Tech said to try another phone.

I tried a corded phone and it seemed to work okay. I tried another cordless and the screech came back. I'm inclined to think cordless phones may be the problem.

I experienced a variety of different line noises depending on, which cordless phone I used (2.4 vs. 5.8 Ghz), whether or not I used whole house wiring (vs. a single phone), and dependent upon which USB port I was plugged into. Probably also depends on how your computer / phone / house wiring is grounded, but I didn't investigate further.

Could it be from the compression the cordless phone is doing?
Have you tried a different phone?
